>I notice that Jens Frederick Jessen's mother's name
>was Christiane MORTENSEN. On the 12th January,2008
>there was a posting on the message board from
>Anne MORTENSEN listing information, in Danish,
>about Jens Frederick Jessen & Gertrude BRUUN. >
>I wonder if she is also related?
No she is not related.
Jørgen Lehnemann Prenslev who started the thread
is related to Gjertrud. http://www.dis-danmark.dk/forum/read.php?7,386738,page=1
>There seems to be a difference in your marrige records
>& the Australian records on a couple of items.
>My copy of my grandmother's (Jessie Delane ROSENDAHL)
>birth certificate states that her parents,
>Jens' & Gertrude's wedding date as 22nd February,1870.
That date is wrong.
They married 15 february 1871- the same day as the son
Laurs was baptized.
>I have also seen on a shipping notice that Jens & Gertrude
>departed Hamburg,Germany on the 21st March,1871 on the ship
>"Shakespeare" arriving in Maryborough,Queensland, Australia
>on 3rd August,1871. On board ship Gertrude gave birth to a son,
>Ludwig in The Great Australian Bight. He also died on the ship.
That is wrong. She can't give birth to 2 children within
6 months.It could be Laurs(born 22 january 1871) who died
on the ship.
One brother more came to Queensland:
Med Quetta et damskib fra London til Townsville, Queensland den 29 June 1885 ankomme så den tredje bro.
