Has anyone followed up on Bertel Kristian Bert(h)elson? born July 1886, and immigrated to USA 1911 (headed for New Jersey where his brother Lawrence Christian Bertelson was living).

The forum found a Bertel Bertelson living with a Thora from Norway, but none of the group paused to examine him, as our attention was on Lawrence.

Now I see that Bertel can't be the right guy. I checked the originals of the census records (Thora is transcribed as Dora, Thora, and Flora), and searched the military database for his World War I draft registration.

The latter gives birth date of this Bertel as January 1881. Census consistently give his date of immigration as 1901. His birth date is given as 1886 in one record; but in looking further, more often he is listed born 1881.
