First of all I am so glad I found this!!!!

I am the great grand daughter of Jakup Eliassen. When he moved to Nova Scotia it was changed to John Ellison. He married my great grandmother in 1916 I think who was Whilhelmina Murray from Aberdeen, Scotland. They had a daughter in 1918 named Whilhelmina I think and his wife was pregnant for my grandmother when he died in on a fishing boat in 1920. My grandmother is Olive Ellison (she married a McDonald in the 1930s). My dad is her 5th child (the oldest died as a toddler). My name is Joanne Ellison McDonald and I was named after her. I am the youngest of her grandchildren and she died last July at the age of 91.

I have had such a hard time researching his family since we had very little information to go on and obviously I don't speak Dutch. But I am so glad I found this for the family tree I've been working on for 2 years!
