Just an FYI to all, if you haven't checked already there is a lot of information in Wikipedia, just type Kybartai, Kuanas Region, Lithuania. You can search the same in Bing. I found a lot of info and photographs in both places. Since Lithuania was part of Russia prior to 1900, there is a good change the different families were Russian. There were some Prussians (Germans) there too. There is too much info to give to you directly, but lots of info to find. Even if you don't think so, we've found there were several changes in spellings of last names, since Russians don't use Ws, so Vs were used instead. The city of Kuanas use to be called something else to. We're looking for possible famiily members under: Kowakuanas, Kovaluanas, Kavakuanas, who came to the states in 1891 or 1892, probably through New York, but we don't know that for sure yet either. Still lots of research to be done. Good luck.
