700 From Memel? (Klaipeda) Lithuania.

Surnames: Ruffmann, Ruffman
My Relatives Ruffman / Ruffman apparently left Memel (Klaipeda) in the late 1800's. They came to the UK from somewhere and were said to be part of the 700 from Memel. Has anyone any idea as to what or who this referred to?
