I am researching a mainly UK-based Sandler family. My great grand-parents Kushiel Sandler and his wife Mooshy, emigrated to London (East End) in the early years of 1900s.
My grandfather Abraham was the last of 5 children (Nathan, Hinda, Itca, Solomon and him) to come to London around 1909 (after being called up age 20 to the Russian Army).
We have docs from that time for my grandfather suggesting he was living and working in Dolgonovo (now in Belarus) in 1909, but a different family story says the family came from Giedraiciai, also near Vilnius, in Lithuania.
If anyone has information regarding this family, and particularly, suggestions about how to dig back further they would be welcome.
The papers from 1909 refer to my grandfather being inscribed on a "Family List" of 1905 - does anyone have experience of tracking such lists down or know what they usually show?
