Surnames: BLOCK, BLACHARZ, CALECKY
Hi Michael,
My earliest known ancestors are David and Esther (CALECKY) BLACHARSH/BLACHARZ/BLACHARIS/BLAKARZ, from Kalvarija/Kalwariya, Suwalki (now Lithuania). It appears that all of the siblings who came over changed their name to BLOCK: Samuel Gabriel (my great-grandfather), Joseph, Meyer, Zelda (m. Saed), Feiga/Fanny (m. Shaeffer). I believe there were also sisters Rifka and/or Rufka. The siblings came over between 1904 and 1914. Everyone pretty much lived in NYC for the rest of their lives.

I read that there was a Also a railway line linking Suwałki with Grodno completed in the late 19th century.

Happy searching!
