Brita (Bertha as she was later known) was from the Jøsendal farm in Odda. There is no known royal connection. She left Norway as shown in earlier reponses in 1864 and married a German-American.
Her brother, Viking, just 3 yrs older than she, left Norway about 1857 and settled in Lee Co. Illinois. He married a distant cousin to my family.
Her younger sister, Gyrid, married a man originally from Ullensvang and they settled in Vermillion, SD.
At least 5 of her nephews also emigrated to the US - one settling in Wright Co. Iowa, one in Grand Forks Co. ND., another in Wyoming and two in Montana.

The books of "Odda, Ullensvang og Kinsarvik i gamal og ny tid" by Olav Kolltveit cover the family history quite extensively and those volumes are available to you on LDS microfilm. Brita's immediate family will be found on pages 350-351 of volume 3-1 of that eight book series.
