My great-grandmother, Dagny Valeur, arrived at Ellis Island on 3 Sep 1912 aboard the Oscar II (from Christiania, Norway) at age 16. Her destination is written as "Friends Mr. & Mrs. Wm. H. Liebrich (or Liebrick) / 4952 Warnock Street, Philadelphia, PA." (4952 Warnock Street is a row-home.)
Is there any way to tell why she would be going to the Liebrich's home? Or how she connected with them before leaving Norway? I assume she would be a servant for them, but I would like to know what she was doing at 4952 Warnock Street and how they were her friends.
She would not be on a US Census with the Liebrich's because she arrived after 1910 and was married before 1920.
I have attached a .jpg of Dagny's manifest list; she is line #22.
Any little bit of help would be much appreciated. I know this is somewhat long and confusing.
Takk.
