I am researching my family history and am trying to find out more about my gr gr gr grandfather, Ole Olson. He came from Sæbø farms on Fogn Island, as the title of this thread indicated.
My details are somewhat scarce, so bear with me. I will try to give all the details I know.
Ole was born around 1815 and died sometime in the 1860s, probably about 1864. He was married to Sarah, who was also born around 1815. After Ole's death in Norway, Sarah took all of their children and immigrated to America. Their children were: Andrew (1848), Ole (1855), John (1856), Joseph (1858), Julia (1860) and Gunell (1863).
When they came to America, they settled in at La Salle, Ill. and used "Sebby" as their surname.
If at all possible, I would like more info regarding Ole and Sarah so I can find out more about their ancestry in Norway and see how they could possibly be linked to other Sebbys that settled into Illinois (especially Jacob Jacobson Sebby, born 1855).
Any help or guidance whatsoever would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
