The Dahl family you mention came from Lurøy in Nordland, which is in the northern part of Norway. Ernst emigrated 1905, and Thora the year after with the first two of their children Erna (born 1902) and Johan Martin (born 1904). Also travelling together with Thora was her sister Ellerine (Ella). Another sister, Lina, was already in North Dakota having married Ingvald Thomassen from Lovund (part of Lurøy too) in the norwegian sailors church in Brooklyn in 1902.
The families of the two sisters mentioned ended up in Washington, in Blaine and Bellingham respectively with family names Gloppen and Thompson (english for Thomassen).
The full norwegian names were
Ernst Marius Dahl Pedersen (born 1872)
Thora Georgine Zahl Olsdatter (born 1874)
Ellerine Antonette Zahl Olsdatter (born 1883)
Waldemar Rasmussen Glopen (born 1878)
Lina Jørgine Zahl Olsdatter (born 1881)
Ingvard Nicolai Holst Thomassen (born 1878)
