Ah ha!! I ran across this birth record at www.familysearch.com:

name: Herman Schiold Meyers
birth date: 26 Sep 1887
birthplace: Chicago, Cook, Illinois
gender: Male
race (original): W
race (standardized): White
father's name: Peter Meyers
father's birthplace: Nor
father's age: 23
mother's name: ....t...ie Post [another record at familysearch has Herman's mother's name as Antonie Post Hyer; obviously a bad transcription of Meyer to Hyer!]
mother's birthplace: Nor
film number: 1287732
digital folder number: 4271371
image number: 324
reference number: v 16 p 152

By learning Herman's unusual middle name that he was given at birth, this appears to prove that it was his father, Peter Christian Schiold Meyer, who later married Bertha Evenson!
Jim - Did your grandfather later go by "Herman Charles Meyers" (with an "s")? (WWI draft card, censuses, SSDI)

According to the 1900 Chicago census, Beatrice Meyer, listed as the daughter of Bertha and Peter Meyer, was born April 1894.

I think this is her birth, listed under her father's mother's surname - Schiold - a name Peter was sometimes known by in Norway:
name: Beatrice Schold
birth date: 07 Apr 1894
birthplace: Chicago, Cook, Illinois
gender: Female
race (standardized): White
father's name: Peter R. Schold [Schiold/Schjold]
father's birthplace: Norway
father's age: 32
mother's name: Bertha Evanson
mother's birthplace: Norway
christening place: Chicago, Cook County, Illinois
film number: 1287740
digital folder number: 4271378
image number: 399
reference number: ln 15954 p 320

So it appears that Peter WAS the natural father of Beatrice...unless he legally adopted her later?!

I think this is the above Beatrice in the SSDI:
Name: Beatrice Woznick
SSN: xxx-xx-xxxx
Last Residence: 60631 Chicago, Cook, Illinois, United
Born: 7 Apr 1894
Died: Aug 1972
State (Year) SSN issued: Illinois (1955-1957)
~~~~~~~
Jim - I just found your grandfather's 1965 obituary. In it, it mentions he was survived by just 2 siblings (brothers). So it appears he had no relationship with his half-siblings.
Hope this helps!
PS: Unfortunately, I think the person who originally started this thread is not seeing these posts. S/he has a record of only 2 posts - back in 2007 concerning Peter Meyer.
