I, too, am seeking info on my great grandfather, Peter Meyer. Here's what I know: born in Egersund, Norway; emigrated to Chicago; married to Antonie Post (also fr Egersund); certified pharmacist (found a record fr 1897); had four children with Antonie, including my grandfather, Herman Meyer, born in 1887.
And here's the intriguing part: In ~1897, Antonie and Herman returned to Egersund for 10 months or so, leaving Peter and her three other kids in Chicago. When they returned, it was revealed that Peter had fathered a child with Antonie's best friend. And that was the beginning of the end of Peter's visibility in the family history known to me. The only other thing I know is that there were some other Meyers in So Cal with whom my mother (Lorraine Meyers) and her sisters occasionally communicated.
Could the "other woman" have been Bertha Evenson? Please let me know if you can connect any of these dots.
