I recently discovered that I have some Norwegian ancestors. Their English names were Frank Nelson b.? (father), Alexander Nelson b.? (eldest son) and James Edward Nelson b.1859 (youngest son). There was a wife and a daughter too. All their original Norwegian names are unknown as is the area of Norway they are from. Variations on Nelson could be Nilson or Nielson but this is just educated guesswork on my part.
Frank, his wife and his daughter were killed in a snowfall, probably sometime in the 1860s. Alexander and James were taken in by a rich Uncle but later tried to run away to sea. Alexander didn't make the boat in time but James did, first traveling to Scotland then to Australia. There he married and had a family.
If anyone out there knows anything about this story and can provide me with information, particularly about Frank and/or his wife, I would appreciate it. I am descended from James and have managed to acquire a fair amount of information in the past few days about him. I would love to learn about the other Nelsons.
Waiting hopefully for replies :-)
