It's interesting to hear what happened to him later. I believe that he probably was flooded out again, look what happened in 1997 spring, even with modern levees and earth moving equipment. It was terrible.
If you don't have that portrait of him, I can scan the page from the book, but now I can't do it until later in July. I have the old book because one of my great grandfathers is also listed in it. They were called Vanity books, sort of similar to Who's Who, where people would submit their own information, or a member of the family would, or the publisher would collect it, and of course, who would buy it? Those prominent families featured in the book. If you remember and I forget to scan the photo for you, don't be hesitant to remind me. I'm on vacation for a while here.
It still would be possible to keep searching for relatives in Norway, if that is your ultimate goal, even though it looks like P.M.'s 2 siblings came over, maybe his wife still had siblings that stayed?
If he became so prominent in the USA it is possible that letters back to the home parish in Norway may have noted that, and it could be mentioned in old local information.
If you know more about his wife, maybe a fresh query just relating to her information . . . and maybe post it on the Nordland query site? Here is the link for that.
