My daughter recently traveled to Norway to visit Oslo and Hamarøy where her great grandparents came from. One of the tour guides gave her additional information about her great great grandparents but it is in Norwegian. She has been able to translate a good bit of it using google translate (at least get a pretty good understanding of it) but this sentence just doesn't translate very well. Would appreciate any help with it:

"Jakob var i ungdommen en middels høg og frisk kar ifølge militærrullene."

and also this line:

"Han og Olava fikk i 1858 lensmann Bugges bygselbrev på Vassvik,, datert 11/5 1858, trolig samtidig som Bugge kjøpte gården av mor til Andreas."
