Located in rural Black River Falls, the Squaw Creek Lutheran Church has a rich Norwegian Heritage. On March 9, 1891 twenty-two pioneer men from Norway, who brought with them their Lutheran faith from the old country, met to discuss the need to establish a Lutheran congregation, and to build a house of worship. The church itself was not built until 1892.
Worship services and records kept were in Norwegian until 1921 when the transition to English was made.
These Norwegians were devout worshippers with their faith being the same as we know today.
Presiding Minister: Pastor Calvin Thoreson
