Where can my FIL post unidentified Scandinavian Pictures for possible ID?

Hello everyone. I hope this is in English.
I'm writing, not for myself, but for my FIL (father-in-law). His dad was b. in Denmark, his mom from Sweden. His wife's family is from Norway.
Here's the problem: I'm not sure which relative, but one brought him 2 boxes of photos. His sister could identify only 1 or 2.
Is there a website or place you'd recommend, or just a mssg. board maybe, where he could display some pictures for possible identification? Or if you have any other suggestions, I'll be happy to pass replies along. thanks. tessie (who mostly deals with French ancestors, right now.:)

Frank Nelson , Maria Nikula Sweeden/Finland?

Frank Nelson and Maria Nikula were my great grandparents.
Their son Alfred(Lakaraius Alfred as given name in Finland)
was born in 1888. I know Alfred emigrated to the USA and settled in West Quincy Ma, and later in 1908 married my grandmother Sylvia Maria Piispanen. But its Frank and Maria that are my brick walls. Can anyone help?
I was told that in my case the Nelson is Finish, wasn't changed from Nielsen/Nilson etc) and that Frank was born in Finland, but I am wondering about that.
Maybe he was born in Sweeden and moved to Finland at some point before he met and Married Maria.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Alexander BRUEN and Fredericka CARLSON in Finland or Norway

I am looking information on the above, born somewhere in either Finland, Norway. Their son Charles Andrew Bruen was born 1855 somewhere. He married Allison Black in the German Church of Scotland Dec 27 1883. The certificate is very poorly written . Charles's father was a sargent of something. Are there any census records for the 1800's or birth records. I believe the family had something to do with a fishing or boat line that stopped in Leith Scotland. The name Nelson appears as a name in the family.

Is there anyone out there who knows whether or not the surname BARGINALL is of Scandinavian origin at all?
On various census' it has been spelt differently ie:
BARGNEIL , BARGNEL, BARGNEERL, BARGINELL..

Generations of the family can be found living in St George in the East in London from 1803. Their occupations are Watermen, Lightermen and a Thames Water Constable.

I am in search of some help in researching my G grandparents family.
Fredrick Held 1865, Mahlheim Bavaria
his wife Catherine Hess 1868 , Schleitheim Switzerland
Their daughter's inlaws:
Harry DeGroot, 1851, Holland and his wife Mary Duhen 1857, unknown Place of birth. (she later remaried a Van Hawling)
All that I know about these four people are that they have children and I know the children's names and some dates.
If there is any help available out there please email me. These four would be our GG grandparents. so as you can see, we are not very far into our gene pool.

I am hoping someone can help. I am trying to find out about the surname Mulmonger. I don't know when someone of that name came to America. I do know that my grandfather was Jeffery Jacobson. At some point his family came here too. His father was Eli Straw and his mother was Marie Mulmonger. I would like to find out where these people were from. Any help is greatly appreciated.

My great-grandfather was named FRANK YOUNGRAIN, His wifes maiden name was SOPHIA NOID. They both were swedish. I'm not sure of the exact swedish spelling for Youngrain but in America that is the way they spelled their name. He and his family lived in Iowa. His daughter, Nellie was my grandmother, she was born in 1899. There was another sister that was born in Iowa in 1886. We're not sure when they first moved to Iowa. If anyone has any information we'd like to hear from you.

I am looking for information on ERNST HANSBERG, my great grandfather.

It's a long shot, but I only know that he married MARGOT HOLM, in Tallinn, Estonia, prior to 1910.

They had a son, (my grandfather) HARALD HEINRICH HANSBERG.

ERNST died of pneumonia on 7 January 1912, when HARALD was not quite 13 months old.

HARALD had a sister, INGRID... but I do not know if ERNST is her father as well... perhaps MARGOT was pregnant when ERNST died?

My great grandmother was Christina R. SEIVWRIGHT, born 1882 in Cullen,
Banffshire, Scotland to Alexander SEIVWRIGHT & Ann GORDON.
I have just discovered that before she was married to my
great-grandfather, she had a son illegitimately. His name was (is?)
Alexander Sievewright CUMMING (the father was William Brodie CUMMING
born 16 May 1874 in Fordyce, Banff, Scotland to George CUMMING &
Margaret STEVENSON). Alexander was known as "Sandy" and he was born 13
September 1902 at Seafield, Rathven, Banffshire. I had always just
thought that "Sandy" was the long-lost older (full) brother of my
grandfather, therefore had the BARRON surname.
Christina married Alexander Walker BARRON on 2 June 1905 at Rathven,
Banffshire and they had several children, including my grandfather,
George Brian Tore BARRON, born 24 December 1914 in Pennan Village,
Aberdour, Aberdeen.
Alexander Walker & Christina R. (Seivwright) BARRON and all of their
children, except "Sandy" left Scotland and settled in Toronto, Ontario,
Canada about 1922/23.
They kept in touch with "Sandy" until the years during WWII, when they
lost contact.
If anyone has any info at all on my grandfathers long-lost
half-brother, or how I could go about finding what happened to him
please contact me.

If anyone could give me any advice on researching a man called Johan Frederick Nielson Poulsen. I think he may have been born in a Scandanavian country, and he was a seaman and married an english woman in Durham. I dont know how to go about researching names or census' in those countries. Is Gruver a Scandinavian name?

I have always been curious about the orgin of my surname. There was some thought that it was German but the closest known German surname is Gruber which according to my father I don't think that our name was not derived from this variation. I then noticed that some pages on the Internet in what I think is some sort of Scandinavian language uses the word gruver.

I am examining a microfilm of the 1850 birth records from Kronoberg, Goteryd Parish. I am looking for my great grandmother Ingrid Kristina Arvidsdotter. I located this record for Ingrid Stina. The month and the year and the date ? (18) seem to match. Now I have lots of questions.

WIXTRUM - Help Please

I am hoping someone can tell me if this name WIXTRUM is of Scandinavian Origins.
I have only a small amount of info : I am looking for any connections at all to this name.
My ancestor apparently was named Andreus / Andrew Wixtrum, born approx 1835. He worked on a Whaling Ship that came to NZ approx 1859, when the ship returned home he jumped ship and changed his name to Charles Smith.On his marriage and death certs he lists his parents as Edward Smith & Margaret Bayley/Bailey and states that he was born in Flintshire , North Wales.
The family story has always been that he came from Norway or somewhere near.
I am hoping someone may be able to give me some clues as to how I go about finding him.

Seeking information about my surname, which has several old spellings and has, in the past, been used as a first name. In particular my great grand father John Brynolf, and his family. He was born in 1840(?) in Sweden, we think at Bareio Fiold, Newsonboulg. Cannot locate that place, it may be spelled incorrectly. He may well have been born in Denmark, Finland, Norway, or Iceland, as the name has Old Norse origins (=brown(?) wolf), and he may have anglicized his surname on arrival in England. He married in England in 1870, so must have left for England in the period 1840 - 1869 (?). Any help or information, no matter how small, or how vague, gratefully recieved.
