My gr-grandparents came from Sweden .. entered USA thru NY..I'm not sure if from Gavelborg County tho. I have my gr-granddad's actual citizenship papers & some kind of handwritten papers in form of what might have been part of a ledger..these are written in Swedish & I have no clue to what they are...hoping your Englund might shed some connection...here are ggparents names: Ernest Gustaf Englund & Hedvig (aka Hattie) Englund...dates on these ledger papers look like 1827..They lived in New York City,NY,USA..they had a daughter named Margaret Louise (my Grandmother) born 12/8/1903 in New York City,NY,USA....I also have two(2) newspaper clippings of a Charles England (which may be a typo)of White Plains,NY,USA who was shippwrecked on Jan. 15,1877..off Cape Hatteras..Birth 5/20/1865. these clippings are dated 6/3/36 & 5/21/41 which is why i believe the name is a typo/misspelling.
Please don't hesitate to email if any of this may be of help.
I also would appreciate help on how to translate papers i have. I am new at this whole geneology & could REALLY use some help...
Thanks & Good Luck........
