My great great grandfather had a brother Lawrence Ryan. He was born in County Roscommon, Ireland, around 1856. He went to Argentina where he spent many years before returning to Ireland with his family.
There is a story in my family that during Lawrence’s time in Argentina, there was a dispute between a relation of Lawrence’s and another immigrant, resulting in the death of the Ryan relation. I’ve been told that my great grandmother Lizzie Ryan went to Argentina briefly (before she married in Ireland in 1905) to be with the family.
I found it unusual that my great grandmother went out there to visit and wonder if maybe the dead Ryan was her father or brother. I can only assume that Lawrence paid her fare.
I have no other information, only that Lawrence died in County Roscommon in 1954 aged 98.
Can anyone help me find out more?
