Hello, I know it has been some time since your posting in which you refer to your great great grandmother, Elizabeth Haynes Hollingsworth who has British Guiana connections, so I am not sure if you will get this. I am searching for information about my Great Grandfather, George W Hollingsworth who came to Australia in 1876 from British Guiana, followed by his older brother, Robert James Haynes Hollingsworth in 1884. Documentation I have for both of them indicate they were born in New Amsterdam, Berbice, BG in abt 1844 and 1850 respectively. Their parents are recorded as John Alexander Hollingsworth and Eliza Rich which places them in Berbice in the early 1800's. Their father John was a Master Mariner/Pilot and I note there was a John Hollingsworth in the BG Directory for 1880 and 1882 as a Master/Chief Pilot living in Berbice. I can't help but wonder if he is one and the same. What caught my interest about your post is the combination of Haynes Hollingsworth names and if you know anything about the historical significance of this given the naming traditions of the time. Thanks.
