Hello my maternal grandmother was Amy Haynes, her father was captain Edmund Stanley Haynes born at Villa Nova plantation (Haynesfield) in St. John's Parish Barbados. He was a captain for the Sprostons shipping company in British Guiana. She was the youngest daughter of the captain's fsecond marriage to a lady whose surname was van sertima. He remarried a woman named Allison, who was her best friend, upon her death. Idon't know if this is a name or surname. He had three wives. My grandmother had a lot of half brothers and sisters, I recall a great aunt Elsie, great uncle Edwin, great Aunt Edith, great uncle Charlie, many died before I was born except Edith who lived to be over 100 years old. My grandmother died when I was three so most of my info comes from my mother who died 15 years ago. If you know more I'd love to hear from you. I repeatedly asked my mum to write this down but she never did.
