Lastretos in Uruguay

I'm looking for any clues to the birthplace and family of my gggrandmother Margarite (Margaret) Lastreto. The clues I have are from her obituary. She died in San Francisco in 1881 but her obituary said she was a native of Montevideo, born in 1845.

Various censuses have her born in Argentina, South America and Spain. But I'm sticking with her obituary and Montevideo for now.

She married my gggrandfather Antonio Vescovo(aka Peter Wilson?) in January of 1860.

She had a younger sister Alice/Elena Galliano Maggio. Elena was born in Australia in 1853.

Margarite’s children (All born in San Francisco) were Nazario(Alexander,) Regina, Rose, Anna, Angelina, Alice, Francis(Frank,) and John.

As of yet I have no clue as to who her parents were. I do have a mysterious Angelica Lastro(age 30) that appears in the 1860 census in San Francisco that I have reason to believe might have a connection to her.

Do these names sound familiar to you?

Hope to hear from you soon.
Peggy Wilson
Hola amigos,
Saludos.
Daniel Severo

In my family tree there is a Juan Batlle who was the father of Carmen Batlle-Rodregues born 10 Jan 1806, died 24 Mar 1873 in Ponce Puerto Rico. He was also the father of Paula Josefa Batlle-Rodregues, born 23 Nov 1810, Ponce Puerto Rico and died 9 Dec 1889 also in Ponce. I don't have any information on Juan Batlle. I would like to find any information on the Batlles living in Uruguay and see if they may have a connection to Juan. Paula Josefa Battle-Rodregues married Manuel Grau-Herrero and were the parents of 7.

My ancestor, Adolf Reimer (originally from Denmark) was a businessman based in Hamburg but in church records was reported as a citizen of Montevideo, travelling between Hamburg and Montevideo. I have found shipping records when he travelled to Montevideo. He owned a business in both cities which I believe to be "Laymann, Reimer & Cia", which was also listed in a directory in Hamburg. Does anyone have any information about Adolf Reimer or the business and suggestions about sources to search for information?

I should mention that Adolf Reimer was born in 1845 and the business appears to have been established around the 1880-1910 period that he was traveling to Montevideo as early as the late 1860's.

Thanks and regards, Rhonda Staskow, San Francisco
I am looking to confirm the parents of these children. I believe the father was John Tune born 1804 (d1850) Dover England, a seaman. The dates are either birth or baptism dates and they were born as British subjects.
Thomas Tune 12 Oct 1829; John 11 Sep 1831; William 19 Dec 1833; James 19 May 1835; Elizabeth 19 Jan 1838.

The children moved to Massachusetts in 1847 but there is a possibility that the mother may have stayed in Uruguay.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Distant cousins of mine went to Uruguay from Alsace in the latter half of the 19th century. The earliest appear to have been Lucien Meny (born 1810 in Fellering, Haut-Rhin, France)

http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=robtbeh...

and Michel Naviliat (born 1822 in Oderen, Haut-Rhin, France)

http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=robtbeh...

both of whom arrived in what is now Nueva Helvecia in July 1862. By 1868 François Joseph Dreyer (born 1829 in Ranspach, Haut-Rhin, France)

http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=robtbeh...

was also living there. Later arrivals included Aloyse Bobenrieth (born 1829 in Ranspach)

http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=robtbeh...

Louis Dreyer (born 1814 in Ranspach)

http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=robtbeh...

Jean Baptiste Haller (born 1821 in Fellering)

http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=robtbeh...

Louis Flieller (born 1836 in Kruth, Haut-Rhin, France)

http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=robtbeh...

François Joseph Friedrich (born 1821 in Ranspach)

Montevideo,Uraguay - female Corrado/male Benevenuti

My great -great-grandparents were Catholic & Protestant in northern Italy. They had two children out of wedlock, my great-grandmother (born about 1878) and her brother (born about 1885). They then emigrated to Montevideo and were married.
We corresponded with a Benevenuti gentleman about 30 yrs. ago, who was apparently the son of a second marriage. According to him Corrado died and was buried in Italy and his father remarried. But we lost track of him.
Any help on this would be appreciated.
Bonjour,

Marie-Christine Andregnette

Isabel GUEDES SILVEIRA

To: Aisha PRUZE: I have searched "high and low" and found there no GUEDES born in Spain. Are you sure? As you well know SILVEIRA is quite a common Brazilian-Portuguese surname, especially on both sides of the border between Brazil and Uruguay.I checked everything I have on Cerro Largo but there are no Guedes and the Silveiras are not yours, probably because the ones you are looking after are not yet registered. You said that Mirsa SILVEIRA married into the PACIELLO family and I tried the Paciellos from www.familysearch.org. Pablo Paciello was the father of Eli, born in 1929 in Montevideo; Norma, born in 1930; and Pablo, born 14 august 1943 in Mdeo.It would be convenient to check the White Pages to see if you can locate this Pablo, now 63 years old. There's a Maria Paciello who married Sabino Palese whose daughter was Rosa PALESE Paciello, born 25 april 1879 in Basilicata, Catanza, Italy. She married Manuel CORONATO Paciello (relatives?) also born in the same place, on 29 oct 1878. The marriage daea was 19 august 1901 and their son was Pascual CORONATO Pacielli.
Notice that the Palese-Paciello-Coronato belong to an older generation while the Paciello, born in Mdeo. are contemporary.Perhaps if you can search the Paciello and find out who married Mirsa SILVEIRA you can find more informatiomn into the Silveira-Guedes families. One more hint:
There's an Isabel GUEDES-López, born 2 july 1897 in Tacuarembó. I checked the Libro Primero de Matrimonios de San Fructuoso de Tacuarembó looking for the marriage of Isabel's parents: Candido Guedes de Olivera y Ana Lopez, but couldn't find them. So sorry1 Renée

Seeking information about Basil Brunner, born in Ireland Abt. 1896, died probably in Uruguay. He relocated from Ireland to Uruguay, where he worked on a railroad.
I need an official copy of my great-grandmother's birth certificate from Uruguay. I have researched all of the birth records for Montevideo that the Mormon church has, without any matches. I also tried to request the certificate from the Uruguayan consulate in Los Angeles, but my request was returned because I have no information on the Office Number of Judicial Section. I do have her full name, date of birth, and names and birthplaces of her parents. My Spanish is not very good, but if someone knows where else to look, I could have someone who is fluent in Spanish to help me.

Any suggestions would be extremely helpful. Thank you.
French immigrants to Montevideo

I am searching for relatives in Montevideo. My great-great-grandfather was Pierre Casenave. He left the Pyrenees region of France and settled in Los Angeles, California, USA approximately 1860. He received correspondence from his brother in France, Arnaud Casenave. The letters refer to the "family in Montevideo." I am wondering what part of the family may have left France for Uruguay and what became of them. Please contact me if you have any information. Thank you!

Waldenses colony

William Henry Solomon was born in Uruguay about 1871 or 1872. His parents, Jean Pierre and Rachel Marie (Odin) Solomon, were both born in Italy. They spoke French. Sometime between William's birth and the birth of the next child, they moved to Monett, Missouri. I've learned that they belonged to the Waldenses or Waldensian colony there in Uruguay. Does anyone know how I can find out about this colony and perhaps locate emigration/immigration and/or birth records to and from Uruguay? Would love to hear from anyone who may have info about them.

Saludos.

Disculpe por mi castellano.

Thank you!

I have been told of a Papprill male who emigrated to Uruguay around 1911 and may have had a Store in Montivedeo circa 1950. No contact with this person had been had since his migration so the story remains a family anecdote. Can anyone confirm for me the existence of such a person or store in Montivedeo in the period 1911-1950?
If such a person and family were established there are there any descendants?

Hi, but all in german, sorry.

Agradeceria cualquier informacion. Muchas gracias.

Florencia.
