Hi! I have been told that I have Afro-Latino ancestors. I share both my mom's and dad's last name. My mother's last name is Fortenberry and father's last name is Rivers. Carmelo Spadaro (o Spataro) quien era hermano de mi abuela. Carmelo viajó
de Valguarnera Caropepe, Sicilia, Italia para Buenos Aires, aproximadamente en 1906 o 1910. La última carta que la familia recibió de él fue en el año 1920 - 1928 y en
ésta mencionó que tenia cuatros hijos y que su esposa había fallecido ya.

Trying to verify any portion of my family oral history of Dominicio Martinez who in first half of 1800s was brought to Venezuela as a slave. The tradition says he successfully sued for freedom because his name was not on the ship manifest and later bought property and slaves of his own, living in Caracus. An enslaved woman, Andrea Stern or Stein, had children with him. They or perhaps only their children later moved to Puerto Rico (San Juan I believe).

Research Assistance in South America

I need some assistance with researching my husband's family history in Chile, Peru, and possibly Venezuela. I do not speak or read Spanish. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

According to my research, Washington Michael Jacobs, born c.1828 in South Carolina, went to South America (date unknown). He married Rosa Moulet who was born around 1855 in Chile to French parents. Their elder three children were born in Peru starting around 1875-76. By 1880 they were in Oakland, CA.

According to family legend, Washington was something of an inventor. He invented what we today would call a "torpedo". He attempted to sell it to the Venezuelan government. When they wouldn't buy it he then attempted to sell it to the Argentinian government. The problem was that Venezuela and Argentina were at war at the time. He was given 24 hours to get out of the county.

Any assistance would be very greatly appreciated.

My great-uncle left the United States for South America ca. 1899/1900. He was a copper wire drawer, having learned the trade in the UK. He lived in the US from 1879 until he disappeared around 1899. He may have gone to South America.

My wife and I research Minchin descendants and are aware of a Carlos Minchin (1775-1854) and a Capt Charles Minchin who fought for Bolivar in the 1820s. Apparently Minchin stayed on in Venezuela. Does anybody know anything of him or any descendants?

Hello my name is Sonja Pierce and I am trying to find any information that I possibly can find on my great uncle Claude Chrisley. He lived in Caracas, Venezuela for 30 years. He was an elusive man and when he came back to United States he never said alot about his time in Venezuela. From the bits and pieces that he did tell us made us to believe that he started a family down there. But he really never said. So I am looking for any children that he may have had. I have no clue as to whom he lived with or anything like that. I am guessing at some dates here but are as accurate as I know. I am assuming it was late 40's to mid 70's that he was down there. If anyone out there has heard of this man or knows of his offspring I would love to hear from them. Thank you.

According to Olga, she was deported by the German's from Yugoslavia to Germany to work as at a tank factory probly near Neu-Ulm, Bavaria. She was liberated by the American Army on May 7, 1945. She was then placed in a camp called Pasau-Unra. The Farkas family moved to Caracas, Venezuela. Olga came to the US to stay with other family already here. As far as she knows the family is probly still in Venezuela.

I am looking for info on Carlos Eugeno. He was born in South America. The 1900 census says Eugene(o) Carlos born in Venezuela. The head stone in St. Michael's Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida reads Carlos Eugeno born Dec.9,1863 died Feb.26,1917. He was married to my gr. grandmother, Emma Winslow Eugeno, who is buried beside him.
This is all the information I have on him.

He did his military service in France (his father was French) in 1935 and then emigrate to Venezuela where he lived in Maracaibo. I am looking to find a family tree of my family, my grand father's name was Jose Jesus Bermudez that was born in Cumanna Venezuela in 1910, or some time arround there. He had an older brother (name unknown) my grandfather Jose Jesus Bermudez was sent to Trinidad West-Indies, or so I think. But! he did live in Trinidad and married a womand named (Jsephina), they had 4 children. He then married a second time, and her name was Blanche Nives, she was my grand-mother. They had two children a son and a daughter, Blanca Josephina Veronica Bermudez (David), and the son's name was also named Jose Jesus Bermudez, they now reside in the United States. I know that I have two uncle's from my grandfather's first marriage, I think the oldest is Jose Bermudez, and the other son is Meguel Bermudez, they now resides in Caracas Venezuela. their are also two sisters, my aunts one who also resides in the united states, and the other still in Trinidad West-Indies. from what little I know, my great-great-great grandfather was a General that fort along Semone Boliver, and he came from Spain. I am not sure, but I understood that he was a cousin of Queen Isabella of Spain.
