Hi I have hit a brick wall with my ggg grandfather. He died at sea during his time in the navy and when i recieved the death certificate it stated he was from Belgium. It now appears that he changed his name to John Ratings when he came to Liverpool. I have since been told his surname was originally Ratinckx but i have no idea of his first name. Any ideas what I should do now?
