We are searching for decendents of John Istas who immigrated to the US approx. 1897. These decendents were left behind in Belgium. There was a son who followed his father to the US, by the name of Omer Istas. Three children remained behind in the old country, Alphonse, Marie, and Elise. Last letters received by Alphonse were dated 1910-1923, last known address for Alphonse was 66 Rue Wayenberg, Bruxelle. We know that Alphonse had a son, Marcel Istas (Gistas?) Marcel had a daughter Denise. In 1922, Marcel may have been an officer in the Marines (World War 1), who trained in Australia, at a Belgium Training School.Are there any Istas'Surnames out there.
