Classification: Immigration
Surnames: Rottiers, Van de Sijpe, Van Sipe, Govaert, DeGroote
I finally found my "Van Sipe" aka Van de Sijpe family's village in East Flanders, Belgium. Felix Van de Sijpe, his wife Julianne Rottiers & children left the village of Sint Lieven Houtem in the fall of 1844 & arrived in New York on Found the Village St Lieven Houtem -Father Felix Van de Sijpe, attention-Name of mother Julianna Rottiers not Mortier; Immigrated to USA New York Harbor-Nov. 27, 1844 on the Ship "Gustaf Wasa"-They traveled to Detroit, Michigan & arrived just after the new year of 1845. Their children were John, Augustus, Rosalie, Leo, Ferdinand, Firmin, & Fastinus. One daughter & six sons. This family is also connected to surnames Govaert & DeGroote from this village. The son Firmin I am concluding-later went by the name of Louis. I am looking for any clue's on this name.
