Piette Family name

I am looking for ancestors of my Great Grandmother, Florentine Piette. She was the daughter of Joseph Piette and Virginia Gerard of Belgium, but I'm not sure where. I have many pictures of her and her many siblings and cousins. Someone in her family owned a candy store, I believe there were also relatives named Rasmussin. Florentine (we called her Bonne) married Cyril Volant. They had 2 children, Simone and Edmund. Simone was my grandmother. Florentine remarried (I don't know if she divorced or was widowed) and I don't have the names right now. I don't have dates either, but my Grandmother was born in 1903.I know they lived in Kokomo, Indiana, USA, but then moved to Spring Valley, Illinois, USA. Any relatives out there???

Charles is originally from Antwerp, Belgium.

Charles Belgium>England>Jamaica

Albert (great-grandfather)
^
Charles - Roger
^
Simon - Malcolm
^
Cara

I am looking in Antwerp for relatives of my husband's grandfather. We are quite sure that VanWanderham was not the name. Possibly VanWonterghem. He was born 1-29-1863. Came to the US as a young man of about 20 or so. Came to the state of Alabama and married Ella Knighton. I would appreciate any information that anyone may have. It could be that someone out there would know the "real" name. Thanking you in advance. Shirley

DHOOGE Johannes emigrated 1883

DHOOGE Johannes (John) B. was born in 1869 in the Province of Antwerp. He emigrated to the USA in 1883. He married Leonie LAMMENS circa 1898 in the State of New Jersey, USA. They made their home in the Township of Little Falls, Passaic County, New Jersey, USA and had 7 children:

Anna, born 1913; Jennie, born 1899; Mary, born 1900; Charles, born 1903; Frank J., my paternal grandfather, born 21 Feb 1907; Selena, born 1901 and Helen, born 1910.
According to a 1910 Federal Census, John B.’s father, Johannes B. DHOOGE, was living with the family in their home. He is listed as a widow and does not appear in any further census so he must have died between 1910-20.
The DHOOGE-LAMMENS family was Catholic.

Leonie was born in Sept 1875 in Belgium ( near the Alsace Lorraine border). She emigrated to the USA and entered on 8 Apr 1896 via Ellis Island. She died on 28 Nov 1964.

John died on 26 Oct 1933. Both are buried in our family plot in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in New Jersey.

I would appreciate any further information and/or suggestions that may help me in my search for my family roots.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

Patricia MonteroDeHooge
San Jose, Costa Rica
Patmontero25@hotmail.com
De Volksstem translations

Translation of the birth, wedding and death announcements from the Dutch language DePere newspaper DE VOLKSSTEM are now available on my website for the first 5 years of publication, 1889 – 1895. The files are available for downloading in the RTF format. The newspaper was published between 1889 and 1920 in DePere, Wisconsin, a town Green Bay, Wisconsin. That area was heavily settled by immigrants from The Netherlands and Belgium, as well as immigrants from Poland, Germany and Ireland.

The main web site address is

http://www.geocities.com/NapaValley/2452/

with the translations located under the DE VOLKSSTEM link.

I would welcome any feed back on the usefulness of these translations.
I am an American descendent of this family (of the Henric Vanschoubroek and Joanna Veulemans Vanschoubroek line) currently living in London and want to come to Belgium and research a bit--so any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated...thank you!

Does anyone know of a Belgium surname that sounds like "Boatson"?

My elusive ancestor is Phyllissie "Boatson", born 1848 in Belgium. According to US census records she was born in Belgium and spoke French. She married Fred Hayt from France sometime before 1866, and they show up in IL by 1868. His census entries indicate he was born in France.

Right now I'm looking for some likely surnames that I can begin researching. Thanks,
Pam

I am trying to find the immigration records or the ships name that my ancestors immigrated to the U.S. on. One of their passports states that they departed Antwerp, Belgium and arrived August 19, 1935. I know they eventually settled in Michigan but, I do not know what port they arrived at. I was told that the voyage took 6 days, so that would have them leaving Antwerp around August 13, 1935.

Can anyone help me? PLEASE!!

Thanks.

Hello,
I am trying to trace my family roots. My great-great grandfather Karlos Kuylen( Karlos may be a variation of the actual name), left Antwerp Belgium in the mid 1800's with his wife Eliza(Hannuth0 Kuylen (birth 1834) and his sister Amilia ( Amelia, Aemilia, Emilie) birth abt 1828. They settled in San Salvador El Salvador. i am trying to find information as to where they were born, family that might have been left there. Karlos's date of. birth and marriage to Eliza. Why they left. What ship they left on Did they have to change ships , travel cross country in Central America etc. any guidiance and help would be appreciated. I think I can only but in one query classification at a time so I will start with their immigration from Antwerp. Is there a website with list of passengers leaving Antwerp around the mid 1800's regardless of where they were going as I don't know what route they would have taken. Or a record in Antwerp of people immigrating and to where. Thanks Dawn

This is an update to my query on Van Sipe search. I have found, with the help of Ernest Van de Sijpe of Aalst, Belgium, my family villages. Felix Van de Sijpe was born in the village of Sint Lievens Houtem, his father & grandfather was born in another close village of Zonnegem & then back a generation they were from Vlierzele. These are all close villages in the area of Belgium-East Flanders, just south of Ghent. Felix's wife was Julianna Rottiers not Mortier & they came into New York port November 27th of 1844 on the ship "Gustaf Wasa" & arrived in Detroit January 1845. Anyone with interest to this family out there?

Looking for several families from Charleroi

Which area is Charleroi located in? I am searching for information on the following names. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Victor Joseph Misson born 9/13/1833 Charleroi, Belgium
His parents are Phillip Misson and Theresa Everett. They also had a daughter named Julian born about 1835 and a son named Dieu Done born about 1828. Julian and Dieu Done remained in Belgium.

Victor married Marie or Mary Edwards born 10/19/1840 in Belgium about 1868. Victor studied art and interior decorating at the University in Charleroi and was a noted religious artist in Belgium before 1860. He has also done work in Europe, Brazil and America. They had 7 children but only 4 were living in 1900 and they were: Achille born 4/1871, Morris born 1882 and Alina born 1867. I only have proved the 3 children so far.

Marie's death certificate lists parents as Philip Edwards and Marie Barbau. The Barbau name is very hard to read. The only letters readable are Ba?ba?.

Alina Misson was married to Arthur Dumont when she emigrated to America. Arthur was born 7/1854 in Belgium.

Arthur Dumont and Achille Misson emigrated in 1888 and in 1890 Victor, his wife Marie, his daughter Eleanor Dumont and his son Morris emigrated.

I strongly suspect that Alphonse Lonnoy and his wife Adeline are also connected to these lines. Sorry this is so long, but thought what I have could help others.

If anyone can help with these families lines, I would be grateful. Thanks.

Pierrette Cuyx, I can't find any of her family

My grandmother, Pierrette Marie (Cuyx) Lambert, was born in Belgium. She told me that she was born in Liege, but they don't show any record of her. I know that she is Flemish, but I don't know where to go from there. She was born October 12, 1915. I know that she married a doctor, but I don't know his name, but he died during World War II. My grandmother was living in French Morocco when she met my grandfather. They met at the restaraunt that my grandmother owned. In 1953, they flew to California, USA. My grandmother passed away in 2001 and I didn't really start getting interested in my families ancestors until my son was born in 2003. I would greatly appreciate it if anybody could help me find her family. Her father was Jean Nicolas Cuyx and her mother was Melanie Basteyne (possibly Bastin). I've contacted my grandmother's niece who lives in California and she gave me the little bit of information that she remembers (that's where I got the name Bastin). Pierette's siblings are: Hubertine, Henri, Emile, Louise, and Desire'. Please email me at jennyamhstyedu@gmail.com

Thank you,

Jenny Wallis

His first wifes name was Mary Victorina Dalle(she died of the influenze epidemic in 1919), He went back to Belgium and was remarried to Louise Dalle. I cannot find any info(so far) about Camille (not even a death certificate) on the internet. I know I have relatives in the Flanders area of Brugge and/or Knokke Hiest(Sp.) I visited a cemetary there in 1988 that had Dalles buried there( I was stationed in Germany for the USAF at the time). Most everyone settled in upstate New York in the Rochester, NY region. If you have any info at all or can point me in the right direction, I would highly appreciate it. My email address is:
pjdxxx@aol.com

Thanks very much
Paul Dalle

MAERTENS & LESUISSE in Montreal

In researching my LACROSSE, MAERTENS, GRAMME, NOULLET, CORNEILLE, GARDIER families in Montreal, Canada, I came across a Madeline MAERTENS, wife of Henri "D" LESUISSE. She died in April 1967 and is buried at Cimetiere Notre-Dame-Des-Neiges in Montreal. I would be interested in hearing if anyone knows who this Madeline is. Or, hearing from anyone with any connections to the other surnames listed. Thank you, Patty
