Thanks anyway. It must be Danish after all (which makes no sense as the family was in Vlaams-Brabant for centuries!).

That is very helpful indeed! If I may trouble you further, we have some photos sent between Henriette (the daughter of the above mentioned)and who I suspect may have been her brother. I have tried to google translate them but the suggestions have been Danish which makes no sense. Can you decipher any of this?

Hi,
I do not know if you ever came across these records. The first is the marriage record of Philippina and Philip. The record shows both of their parents and shows his brother Dominicus Bernardus as a witness. The second record is for the marriage of Maria Catharina Van Kelf and Michaël Meulemans. Some of the dates and places are diffrent but I am sure this is them. The third record is the marriage of Maria Elisabeth Neerdaels and Jan Baptist Meulemans and shows both of their parents.
I hope it is of some help to you.
Jim

Project	Burgerlijke stand Huwelijksakten -
Thomas, I would be really interested in the infomation you have on the Guns family. My grandmother was Caroline Vandenhuvel grandfather Jerome Mommaerts from Green Bay and I know her ancesters were Guns. I know my aunt has some research, but I'm not sure it goes back as far as your research.
Thanks
Pat

Hi all. I am looking for some information on a Joannes Baptista Engels. He lived most if not all his life in Bierbeek. He was born in about 1850 and died around 1884. He had a son named Desiderius Engels. I have searched through the Belgian archives and found him as a witness at several weddings, but I am most interested in finding out who his father was. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks for your reply. I do not think they are the same family as my relatives emigrated much earlier to the USA and they were born in Zichem, Brabant, Belgium. The Van den Bergh's are difficult to trace as they are so many, also in the Netherlands. And I am not sure where they settled, just hearsay that is was Chicago.

He married Emilie Marie Donckers 29 Aug 1912. They emmigrated to the U.S. between 1912 and 1914 and lived in Superior, Wisc. They moved to Chicago sometime after 1921.
Hello,
My birth name was Maryann Gloria Micheau,in June of 1954. What we know of my birth mother is her name was Stella Elaine Micheau from BC. Her parents owned a confectionary business. She spent 6 months at the Yale Hotel in Vancouver and had a 4 year old son at the time. Shethen came to Edmonton ALberta where she apparently met my birth father, and did not tell him about me. She then moved to Calgary where I was born. She then disappears and we have no clue as to where she went or if she is even still alive. Apparently she had a brother in BC who was in the navy. We have hired private investigator but the trail ends with my birth in Calgary. I hope you may be able to help me. Thank you for your time.

Hendrick and wife katrina vischer van ekeren came from noord brabrant, netherlands to pella, iowa, marion county in 1867. also two small daughters pieternelle van ekeren (later muilenberg) and maria van ekeren (later meurs). they settled around otley in marion county. (possibly name came from this town as belguim and holland were one country years back - a town named Eekeren just over the border in belgium.

he and his wife buried in price's cemetery just two miles south of otley and 1/4 to 1/2 miles west and then in a field southeast corner. near them also buried there a son, cornelius van ekeren and his wife maria and their daughter katherine and a small son Dirk. Hendrick died in middle age and his wife in her 80s.

Hendrik (henry) had two brothers and two sisters (names not known) who didnt come over - at least not then or possibly they might have and settled someplace in another part of US. His parents names were michael and pieternelle van ekeren.

katrina (katherine) vischer van ekeren (this should be looked up..visser? katrina had at least one sister who came to US. Adrianna vischer stille. possibly she had more sister and possibly brothers too.) her parents same cornelius and maria vischer. (in northeast cemetery at pella stone there for vischers read: john visscher born 1857 died 1927. his wife hendricka born 1862 died 1906")

now think these people pronouce their name VIS-KER or VIS-SHER.

think unlikely abover people releated as im sure we'd know of it and name spelled differently anyway.

when some james was in battle creek, michigan, stationed there in service he had an officer named Vischer and pronounced it as VISH-ER.

(Also found stones reading "P. Visscher overl. sept 1897 oud 67 Jaar 4 months, and wife Aanje Zunvrouw overl Feb. 18 1907 oud Jaar 77, 6m, 11d) which would be died sept 1897 aged 67 yrs and 4m. how would have been born in 1830. Annie his wife died feb 18 1907 aged 77yrs 6m and 11d. born in 1829.
And given that there/were a great number of Flemish families found in Pembrokeshire.

I wonder if there is any possibility that the surname Hopla could be Flemish ?

"Tout indique que Hopla est une variante de Hopley, un toponyme que Bardsley et Harrison décomposent en Hope+leah 'pré, prairie'. Ainsi, on retrouve des Hopley et des Hopla qui ont été baptisés dans la même église à ."

Hello, I recently read your post on the 479 page document of the GUNS family. I recently learned that we have a surname Vanderlinden in the family. I found this in a 1910 Census from Puerto Rico for a Juana Vanderlinden Terichen (not sure of the first letter of the maternal surname. Maybe its a P). But the census shows that this individual was born in Belgium about 1864. I was told maybe Brussels. She might have met her husband there when he was studying medicine. Strange that being born in Belgium she would have a spanish name. (I think it probably was a Belgium variation that was changed by her maybe to make it easier for people to say her name in Puerto Rico. He might have been on the medical board of Universitaire Libre de Bruxelles, Faculte de Medecine et de Pharmacie, Bruxelles, in 1884. Anyway might you have any mention of her. Her husband was named Ramon De Torres Borges.
