SUBJECT: Jean Zicot ~1650 (Croatian mercenary named Cikot?)

Jean Zicot is the first recorded Zicot I have ever found in Belgium.

Supposedly he was a Croatian mercenary who came in with Austrian or Spanish armies and stayed after being demobilized(or perhaps after deserting?)

Never found Zicot name in Croatia, but have found Cikot and variants.

Anyone have hard facts about our common unique Belgian ancestor?

PS: These surnames are all for my ancestors who travelled in mid-1850s from Perwez(and Petit Rosierre) to Bay Settlement in Wisconsin: Martin, Duffeler, Josse, Zicot, deConninck
