CWP Lane is our poor old 'Black Sheep', having been born illegitimately 9 Feb 1894 at 1 Albert Terrace Ashley Street, St Martin’s birmingham to mother Rose Pearce, who soon after died of TB.

He was brought up by his 'father' Charles Lane. But charged and sent away for stealing at age 14 for 3 years in Monmouthshire, served in WW1, was a POW in Sennelager, and came back to UK to marry Fanny Wilson, having a number of children. He kept the Pearce part of his name throughout.

All his sisters denied he existed! But I feel he must have had a really hard life.
Family folklore says that he left for belgium and married bigamously, and we don't know if this is true or not.

He may be known as:
Charles Pearce
Charles Lane
Charles WIlliam Pearce
Charles William Lane
Charles WIlliam Pearce Lane

Or something similar to avoid detection.

His last know address is 8 lime Grove Birmingham in 1935 with wife, Fanny. (Electoral Roll)

I would dearly like to know if he has become part of a Belgian family tree somewhere?

emails can come to me direct: lorraineatlolpaynedotcodotuk

Thank you
