Hi Mike
Thanks for your reply. It's been so long that I don't remember what I posted and can't locate it. Please refresh my memory.

Frederick Smith - have yet to locate a birth registration by his parents James Smith and Harriet Sanderson. I am researching the Sanderson family from Brantford Township, Brant County, Ontario. My husband is descended from Harriet's brother, Robert, born 1835, at Brantford Twp. It only took 10 years to locate all the children. Harriet was most elusive - other than the marriage information in the Brantford newspaper, have not located a marriage registration, as yet. They married in the gap between County Marriage Registers and Civil Registration for all religions in Ontario in July of 1869. Prior to that date all religions, except Roman Catholic and Church of England, had to remit their registrations to the County Clerk. Because the Catholic and Anglican churches kept meticulous registers, they were exempt.
I have traced many [feels like most] of the descendants of Richard Sanderson and Jane Houlding (Harriet's parents)over the years. I was in Alberta two summers ago - we have lots of family there - and did locate the death registers with the info for the deaths of James and Harriet in 1912. I located the Whitla history at the Provincial Archives on that trip and later purchased a copy from someone in Arkansas! How it got there must be a story.
Frederick Edward Smith must have been the name on a document that I located, but with no birth registration there is no way of proving what his middle name was.
This branch of the tree was extremely elusive until the 1891 Census of Canada was released on Ancestry and indexed. Before then I had no way of finding where James and Harriet got to after a Sanderson wedding reception in 1888. They are mentioned, along with several of her siblings, as guests at the party. I have a copy of that as well as their marriage in 1869.
I'd enjoy hearing from you again. Perhaps we can share?

Hamilton, Ontario
