Hi sorry i haven't checked in for a while, according to my mother, Philip, born 1861, met his wife in Philadelphia and had a son, Charles born 1895 back in Toronto. His wife apparently worked for a wealthy family, not sure what Philip was doing there, if he was there, there was also some connection to a brewery.
Perhaps your gggrandmother was a relative and he was down visiting. The marriage didn't last long as she being from Belfast(P) and Philip being catholic, well thats another story.
However, while visiting my mother for easter, i went thru some old photos, and found a picture of four men sitting on a front step of a house. My mother was told it waw philip but didn't know who the others were, as no names were listed on the back.
I'm pretty sure its Philip, John, Charles and the father Michael.
My guess, based on the age of the people in the photo and the timeline, is around 1886-1890, they probably all came back for the mothers funeral or Micheal's second wedding.
After spending so much time looking at the names, was nice to see their faces.
