Hi Everyone! I am looking for some advice about determining some possible Alsace surnames that might have been converted to Lackro upon arrival in the US. My great great-grandfather Edward Lackro(born 1888) and his brothers Paul(1886) and Otto(1882) show up on the 1920 census. They indicate their parents are from Germany. I confirmed with my great Aunt today that the story is that they were from Alsace-Lorraine and their name was misheard and/or misspelled. No one has been able to determine what the original surname was. I believe that all of the boys were born here in Pennsylvania but I do not know if Paul Sr and Mary married in A-L and then left or left and then married. I know this is a major longshot but does anyone have advice on a jumping-off point?
