I am looking for information regarding Eugene Cruger 1832 - 1867, Stephen Van Rensselaer Cruger's older half-brother. Eugene's mother was of a very wealthy Jones family, and he inherited even more than his father's later children. Eugene spent much time in France and eventually married there. Eugene's son, Eugene Guido, was an infamous socialite.
I believe that Eugene (Sr.) was the father of my great-grandmother Mathilde, born in France about 1851, although Eugene may have not been married at that time. Mathilde is said to have been from "the New York Crugers" and married first John Francis Vacher Bacot (of the SC Bacots and the Van Vorst family), then my great-grandfather Professor Adolph Rambeau.
I would appreciate any information about Eugene Cruger's activities in France in the 1850's.
