I am doing some research on the d'Auvergne family. There are quite a few here in St. Lucia and I have heard that there are some in Martinique. I have been able to go back a few generations but I have not been able to find out how or when my ancestors got to St. Lucia. I would be happy for any information.
Thanks

Hi! I am looking for information on my ancestors. Unfortunately, my search runs dry once I get to this branch of the family. What I know: Juan (Jacques?) Brasac and Louise Pitso married in Auvergne and had at least one child, Francisco Brasac Pitso, est. birth about 1780-1799. I know that Francisco moves to Bermeo, Vizcaya, Spain and marries there. I believe he was born in Serbannes, Auvergne, France, but do not know if his parents were also born there. Any assistance that you can provide would be much appreciated!

I am doing our family geneaology and I cannot locate graves for Anthony Maffrand (born 1817 in Paris France) or Leonard Maffrand (died 1896) in Osage County Missouri. Can any one shed some light on these two gentleman? Anthony Maffrand is my great-great grandfather who immigrated to the USA sometime in the 1850's. His wife is named Celine and we don't know what her maiden name is. I'm not sure about Leonard Maffrand, I think he may be a great-great uncle. Leonards wifes name is Marie Louis Schilp who died in 1893.If anyone has any knowledge of the Maffrands in Paris France I would love to hear from them...

Urgent information search about "de Lioncourt"

I am in the middle of what has now proven to be a very difficult search for any information about a French family of nobility with the surname "de Lioncourt". My search has turned up next to nothing which has been discouraging to say the least. I do not wish to disclose my reasons for the search because I feel it may lead to ridicule or resistance to disclose any information that anyone may have so please bear with me and lend me your ears. The earliest date I have for this particular family is 1760 and at this time I know that they did reside in Auvergne, where they lived before is a mystery to me. I am hoping that this message will catch the attention of a certain person (who will remain nameless) in hopes that they will contact me. Any information will be of great help and I extend my thanks in advance to anyone who knows anything of the de Lioncourt family.

Jessicka

Today he wrote:

I am very pleased to send you the baptismal record of Gabriel MONGOT, born and baptised on the 23rd of March 1736 in St. Pierre Parish, Clermont-Ferrand, Puy de Dôme, Auvergne, France.
He was the son of Gilbert MONGOT, carpenter, and Anne Faure (?). He was born about 5 o'clock in the morning. His godfather was Gabriel RIOUX (?) and his godmother was Isabeau VILLARD who signed their names.

Wonderful people do exsist in this world.
Karl

De Lioncourt

A while ago (make that a long while ago) I placed a post on this board regarding the De Lioncourt family. Shortly then after I had no access to a computer so I failed to retrive any replies...I now find that my thread has been collapsed so I've decided to repost, as this is a fairly important subject to me.

The earliest date I have for this family is 1758. I know they resided in Auvergne France and that they were a noble family/one considered to be of high social class.

I feel that were I to reveal my reasons for searching for any and all information of this family I would be ridiculed and not taken seriously. This is a very serious matter to me and its consumed almost two years of my life now. I've found very little and have come to many dead ends. If anyone knows any information, I would greatly appreciate it.

P.S.: There is one I had brief contact with, the one I am looking for in fact. If by chance you should happen upon this thread as you did the other, I emplore you to contact me once more....please I'd like to speak with you again,

Many thanks,

Jessicka
I am looking for my family in France. Toussaint LeGoffic was my grandfather. He was born in Perros about 1891. I found him listed as a passenger on the S.S. Espagne entering Ellis Island, N.Y. before sailing on to Halifax, N.S., Canada. The records show where he was born and his last address was 5 eme Depot, Toulon (Var).

I am looking for ancestors of Pierre Ponteu married to Catherine Rodon before Dec. 31, 1694. They were living in St. Eloy (Eloise) diocese of Clermont. They had a child (maybe more) named Jacques Guillaume Ponteu dit Clermont who married Marie Charlotte Chaille, Nov. 4, 1732. This marriage could have been in Quebec, Canada. His second marriage was to Marie-Anne Louise Boucher in St. Joseph de Lanoraie, in Quebec, on Nov.24, 1736 or 1738.
The name "Pontu/Pontus" is left out and replaced by "Clermont/Clairmont" by the late 1700's.
I'm especially interested in the "French Connection".
Rick Clairmont

French ancestors

My grandfather, Jean Baptiste Paquet, was born 21Oct1871 in Montvicq, commune of Montmarault, Montlucon, Allier, France. His father: Gilbert Paquet b. 20July1848 somewhere in France (parents Baptiste Paquet b. ? and Mary Verre' b. ?) Mother: Solange Bardot b.
11Nov1842 somewhere in France (no information on her parents).
Gilbert, Solange and Jean left France about 1885 to 1877, believe they first settled in Quebec, where daughter Mary Paquet was born in 1877. They then settled in Nova Scotia, where daughter Octavia Paquet was born 18Oct1879. In 1880 the family settled in Pennsylvania, where they lived the rest of their lives.
We understand that Gilbert had a brother that left France before Gilbert and that he settled in New Orleans. We know of no other siblings for Gilbert. We know of a female relative with the surname L'huillier, living in Paris about 1936-1939. Perhaps Gilbert's sister, we do not know.
Jean Baptiste was about 6 years old when they left France and he told his children he had aunts and uncles and cousins in France.
If anyone has any information about any of the above people, please respond to this message.

1- Where do the name Brussac comes from? there are only 20 or so families with that name in the world, most of them in the Aquitaine, so we must all have a common ancestor!!
2- any info on Guillaume Brussac, who lived from the 1880s to the 1940s in Gironde (Reignac ,Anglade ) but may have come from Auvergne, Aveyron etc? he was a staunch protestant, already owned a store in Reignac when he was married at the age of 24 to Francoise Egretier, from Anglade. strangely enough, there are no records of their marriage and of their deaths, yet their 2 children records list them as legitimate.

Merci,
Suzanne Limoges

The only thing my family has been able to tell me is that he was French. He came to the United States from England. They are not sure if he had lived in England or if he just went to England to take a ship from there to come to the US.
