Surnames: DeBusk, Rouse, Edmondson, Surber
As far as can be determined, no one has ever been able to prove the father of Elijah DeBusk, husband of Catherine Rouse. To date the exact relationship of the other DeBusk in Washington County, Virginia can not be nailed down with a 100 percent accuracy. There are people that believe that DeBusks came from Germany and some think they were Hugunots. I have communicated with people that swear that their ancestors spoke German. A lot of the people that settled here were German. I have been trying to prove some of this since 1957 with no luck.
