Can check surnames in Recouvrance-Brest (Brittany) Acte De Naissance Records Index - [1863-1866] & [1855- 1858]

I have copies of (nearly) complete Acte De Naissance record indexes for the above years if anyone would like me to attempt to check a surname.
It's in old French handwriting, but most names can be determined since it is alphabetical. Some months/days are available, others are not. The indexes do not include the parent names.
-Kay, FL
MehdiFakhar@aol.com

I am looking for related family members or any information regarding:

Pierre Charles LeCLERC, born May 21, 1858, Brest-Recouvrance; Mother: Jeanne Marie Laurence SIMON; Father: Joseph Marie LeCLERC (blacksmith - working at the harbor).

I would also like to know if there is a family connection to the names found in these 3 records:

01 June 1821 - Marriage:
PIERRE JACQUES LeCLERC, age 50, born in DUNKERQUE, 23 September 1770, boat sails manufacturer, [widower of MARIE-CLAIRE DERCEPER, who died in DUNKERQUE], Living in Brest-Recouvrance, Major son of GUILLAUME JACQUES LeCLERC and MARIE JEANNE QUANDALLE, [dec'd].
~AND~
MARIE JEANNE PENHOAT, 28 years old, born in Plonevez-Porzay, Finistère, 7 September 1792, living in Brest-Recouvrance, Major daughter of JEAN PENHOAT (dec'd) and MARIE QUEAU, his widow.
The preliminary act is in the Publication Registry.
In presence of PIERRE ALLANT, boat sails manufacturer retired, 60 years old ; JEAN-LOUIS LeGOFF, baker, 25 years old ; GUILLAUME NEDELEC, navy officer of estate management, 44 years old and JEAN LOUIS DANIELOU, baker, 42 years old, all of them living in Brest.
Signed: LeGoff (officiate of registry office), Marie Jeanne Penhoat, Daniélou, LeGoff.

30 October 1819 - Marriage:
MICHEL MARIE LeCLERC, 21 YEARS OLD, birth in COMMANA, Finistère, the 15th of September 1799, worker in the port, resident of Brest, minor son of PIERRE LeCLERC, Sergeant(Corporal) of Gendarmerie retired and MARGUERITE ABALAIN, his wife.
~AND~
JEANNE FRANCOISE MARIE CHAUVIN, 21 years old, born in Brest, 31th October 1799, living in Brest-Recouvrance, minor girl of FRANCOIS CHAUVIN and MARIE JOSEPHE CALVES dec'd), authorized by the family council the 9th of this month….
In presence of JEAN MARIE CALVES, boat sails manufacturer, 44 years old; uncle and tutor of the Contracting party [JEANNE CHAUVIN]; MATHURIN FRANCOIS LE VOYER, shoemaker, in Brest, 64 years old, HENRY TIELIN, tailor in the city, 53 years old and JOSEPH LeCAM, wig manufacturer in Brest.
Signed: Kerros (officiate of registry office), Françoise CHAUVIN, LeCLERC fils, LeCLERC, CALVES, TIELIN, LeVOYER

Birth record:
Acte de Naissance
Joseph Marie LeClerc. The date on the seal was 1816, though it may not be significant. Parent names were Michel LeClerc and Jeanne Francoise Chauvin. (These are the names listed in the above Marriage Record.)
It is signed by Lepage, Chauvin and LeClerc.

Perhaps Michel LeClerc and Jeanne Francoise Chauvin are the 'grand'parents of Pierre Charles LeClerc.
[Pierre Charles LeClerc's father was Joseph Marie LeClerc.]

-----
There was another Brest-Recouvrance record, but the surname is not spelled exactly the same. I don’t know if these are two different surnames, or two variations of the same surname.
19 December 1816
Birth of JEAN FRANCOIS LeCLERCQ
Son of FRANCOIS-JOSEPH LeCLERCQ, Shoemaker in Brest, and MARIE ANNE SCHUMACHER, his wife, married in Brest-Recouvrance.
Witnesses: JEAN SPRINGLER, Carpenter in Brest, parent of the child**; JEAN-CLAUDE MANGIN, prison-guard in the penal colony of Brest.
**[The description 'parent' of the child does not make sense because FRANCOIS-JOSEPH LeCLERCQ & MARIE ANNE SCHUMACHER were listed as parents.]

Thank you very much for any help!
Kay Clerc-Fakhar, Florida
Email: MehdiFakhar@aol.com

Hello,
I've recently discovered I have a Hypolite Lorinse (Laurent) in my tree. He was born in 1805 in France and later immigrated to St. Martinville, St.Martin, Louisiana. He may be related to a SO B. Laurant and David Delaureal (Guadaloupe). I'm still trying to figure out if there is a connection to theses people as they all live near each other and have the variation in the Lawrence spelling in their last name. Does anyone have any information about these people?

I am researching Valentine Michael. His wife was Marie Motier. They had sons Guillahume "William", Gabriel & Michael. Possibly other children. They arrived in America in the early 1700's from France maybe in North Carolina. My Ancestor Jacob Michael son of William ended up in Oglethorpe & Walton County Georgia. I am descended from his daughter who married a Bluford McAdams. Any info on this family would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

bien aimablement

msérandour
I am looking for people by the surname Laurent that originally had family in St. Malo, France. My GG grandfather came to the US from St. Malo working as a Rigger on a boat. We were always lead to believe that he had many sisters and brothers that he left behind. He was born July 1808 in St. Malo. As the story goes he left home because his father did not agree to help him further his interest in becoming an artist as a career.
Any help anyone can give me will be much appreciated!

Thanks, Denise

Senet, Chenet, Senette Family

Trying to find information about the Senet, Chenet, Senette Family, possibly in Bretagne. Our ancestors came to Louisiana in the early 1700s. I will give some of the information I have, some is just questionable. We have Bordeaux in some of the documents, but still not sure if this is correct. We have found Chenet/Senet families in Bretagne.

Jean Louis Senet was married in France to Olive Berger and had minor children in France when, on September 27, 1729, he was drowned. In LOUISIANA HISTORICAL QUARTERLY, Vol. 4, "October 8, 1729, Attorney General Fleuriau reports the drowning of Sieur Jean Louis Senet, while on his way to his plantation by dug-out on September 27, 1729. There being a widow in France and surviving minor children, a guardian should be appointed." The tutor appointed was Daniel Rafleau. (same reference).
Jean Baptiste Senet I was the son of deceased Jean Louis Senet. We find his marriage contract to Marie Salmon in LOUISIANA HISTORICAL QUARTERLY, Vol. 5, page 275, "October 14, 1735, Marriage contract between Jean Baptiste Senet and Marie Salmon. (The brides's parents were from Chafou on the Swiss border).
Later in LOUISIANA HISTORICAL QUARTERLY, Vol. 14, page 141, we find: "Marriage contract, dated February 1756, between Jean Baptiste Senet, Jr. son of deceased Jean Baptiste Senet and Marie Salmon, also deceased, a native of New Orleans, minor emancipated; and Mary Josephine Dauphin, daughter of Jean Joseph Dauphin and Marie Anne Meunier. Relatives for groom: Daniel Rafleau (his step grandfather), and his uncle and curator, Louis Drouet. Witnesses for the bride: Her mother, Marie Anne Meunier Dauphin; her brother-in-law, Adam Verdun; Jean Monget Latime, her special tutor." Jean Baptiste Senet (called Alexandre Chenet) and his wife Marie Josephine Dauphin Senet had six children, the third of whom was Victoria, who was our forebear.
In LOUISIANA HISTORICAL QUARTERLY, Vol. 14, page 141, we find the death and succession of Alexandre Chenet (Jean Baptiste Senet): Novmber 27,1779; Succession of Alexandre Chenet, Alcalde de Verges gives official notice of the death of Alexandre Senet, stating that he leaves minor children. His widow, is Marie Josephe Dauphin. The will found in Andre Almonester's archives is ______. He states in his will that he is named Jean Baptiste Senet, son of Jean Baptiste Senet and Marie Josephe Salmon born in the ville de Alresta in the Kingdom of France, that about twenty years ago he married Marie Josephe Dauphin, by whom he had six children: Rosa, aged 14, Jean Baptiste, aged 12; Victoria, aged 10, Honorata, aged 8; Eugene, aged 6; and Julia, aged 2. Their marriage contract before Chante_, Notary, stipulated what each one should bring to the community. He had a plantation eleven arpents fr___ by _____ _______dec., two leagues from the city on the other side __ ______ river, adjoined on one side by Jean Baptiste _______ and on the other side by Jacques Dauphin, with ____ slaves. He names his wife tutrix and curat ____ and names his six children his sole heirs."
Victoria Senet, or Chenet, was born about 1768. She married Jean Louis Drouet, as we have said and bore him four children. She died December __, ____. Her third child, Edmond Paul Drouet, is our ______ ______.

There are many French and Spanish documents relating to our family in the Notarial Archives. I (John) have also found some enticing information which may explain why the Senettes came to Louisiana. A certain "Sieur Senet" was the first Captain of the Port of New Orleans, working for the French East India Company. This person was praised by a colonial governor in a letter which I found. But in another was fired for stealing stores from the company! Unfortunately, I cannot fiind the man's first name anywhere.

Marriage Contract
October 14, 1735
JEAN BAPTISTE SENET, son of the deceased JEAN LOUIS SENET ant of Dame
(blank) OLIVE, a native of Bordeaux.
with
MARIE SALMIN AMANNE, minor daughter of the deceased JACQUES AMANN and of
Dame MARGUERITE PESTERIN (D not P), native of Chafon (?) Frontier of Switzerland.
Stipulating for Delle. AMANNE being DANIEL RAFLEAU, her grandfather.
Signing for Sieur SENET, PIERRE DARGARY, clerk of the Superior Council of
this Province, ANTOINE AUFRERE and JACQUES RENNE, his friend.
And for MARIE SALMIN AMANNE, Daniel RAFLEAU, her grandfather, Dame
MARGUERITE PESTERIN her mother and JEAN RABLOT her friend.
With the promise this marriage to be solemnized in the Holy Roman Apostolic
Catholic Church, as prescribed by the regulations of Paris.
Signing - SENETE, D.R., AUFRERE, OZENNE, DORGADUNE, ROSSARD, Notary.

Hi
I'm trying to find information regarding Charles Price who was born in Britanny, France in 1844. He was a mariner and left around 1860 to come to England supposedly to escape the Press Gangs for the French Navy. It's possible that his name was originally Leprix, or something that could translate into Price. If anyone has any suggestions at all it would be greatly appreciated.
Linda

Merci beaucoup
Luis DESSOMMES
Au Mexique
I am an American, who has done an extensive search of my Cadorette ancesters in Quebec. This has led me to the region of Brittany, where my family is apparently from (around Vannes). Georges Cadoret immigrated from Bretagne to Quebec, around the 1640s, in the first group of colonists there. His father was Pierre Cadoret. However, I cannot find anything on Pierre - and would like any information anyone may think could help me in my search. I have access to French-Canadian records, if I can be of mutual assistance to your family search. Thank you.

Aufray Coulon dit Mabrian, Bretagne

Am looking for info on the acendancy of one of my ancestors: Aufray (Auffray) COULON dit Mabrian

He was born around 1640 in Saintes, France (near Nantes) to Jean Coulon & Marie Pibelin. Aufray arrived in New France in 1665 as a French soldier in the Regiment de Carignan-Salieres; Mabrian was his military name, the origin of which I have no info on. After the end of his military service in 1668, Aufray decided to remain in New France and settled in the Sorel area of Quebec.

He married Francoise Tierce in Quebec City on Oct 13, 1671. She was a Fille Du Roy baptised at Saint-Sulpice in Paris, France in 1656, daughter of Guillaume Tierce & Catherine Toue.

Aufray died young and had only two childeren:
A daughter, Marie Jacqueline Coulon dit (spouse: Mery Emery Herpin/Arpin dit Poitevin),from whom I descend

A son, Rene Coulon dit Mabrian (spouse Genevieve Vanier) who had a very large family with many sons who may have continued the family name of Coulon or possibly Mabrian.

His wife, widowed with two young children, remairried on May 2, 1677; her seocnd husband was Pierre Guignard (Guinet) dit d'Olonne with whom she had six more children.

Also, I came across info on the net linking the title Sieur de Villiers to the family name Coulon. I have also seen this title attributed to Auffray Coulon dit Mabrian but do not know if this attribution is factual, speculative or simply the result of error or wishful thinking on the part of certian researchers.

Any additional info would be appreciated?

Thanks.

P.S. also speak & write French.

Prue McKay
