probably comes from “tourte” which is translated into English by “pie”.

In the past, the word “tourte” had rather meant a kind of bread.

the termination “erie” indicates the place or we could find of “la tourte” (manufacture or/and sale).

I find this for the toponymy of village (but not the hamlet) in France:
