I believe I'm searching for the same relative, known to my family as Peter DeBeckman, or Pierre de Vequemont. family lore has it that he was the cousin of Louis XVI, but so far I haven't found proof of that. The story is that he and his sister escaped France and married into a Native American tribe, as did Pierre's son. Around the time of the Trail of tears the part of the family headed to Kentucky then Iowa, where my great-grandmother (Pierre's grandaughter I believe) and her husband founded the town of Stockport. Would love more info about the family's life in France.
