Searching for the family of Yvonne Berthelet-Horquet

I am searching for the family of Yvonne Berthelet-Horquet, maybe it is Hocquet...the letters are old and difficult to read. My grandmother was the penpal of this woman. My grandmother was born in 1915 so i assume Yvonne would of been born around the same time. I know lived in Douai in Northern France, then after having to move many times during and after WWII they lived in Creteil, near Paris. I know she married, and had a son named Andre, and a granddaughter named Landrine...who would be about my age...so she would of been born in the mid 1970's. I would think that during the war, this family probably lost most of their family memories. My grandmother kept most everything Yvonne sent her. I would love to be able to find a member of this family to atleast be able to provide copies of pictures of their family. If anyone knows of them or how to reach them please let me know.
They lived in St-Eustache, Ile-de-France, Paris. I haven't been able to trace their parents, and as far as I know, their origins are unknown. Also, why would the surname 'Desmarets' be omitted from certain records? In most sources he is listed as Godfrey Abraham with no mention of Desmarets.

Thanks you,

Caroline Nadeau

Cesar Alexandre Pierre or Robespierre

I have a a very large "Brickwall", which I just can't seem to get over. Cesar Alexandre Pierre born Paris 1822-23.

I wonder if anyone can help me? My G/G/G/G/Grandfather is Cesar (could be spelt wrong) Alexandre Pierre, who came to England in early 1850's with his wife and children. His wife Athenaise Caroline (nee Moulinet) had been married before and she had 2 daughters with the surname of Derviller. They came with them too. They had a child between them Leon Alexandre Pierre, he is my G/G/G/Grandfather. He was born in Amsterdam. Just these 3 children came with them.
My problem is that Cesar was also known as Alexandre whilst in England from what I've seen on the censuses, so could even have been born as Alexandre Cesar Pierre.
But then I have the added problem that has been passed down by the family through the generations, the surname could well have been Robespierre, and they changed the name to Pierre when they came to England.

I, now have the Pierre family tree pretty much sorted out of them in England, they went on to have many more children over here. Just this mystery of names and births now to overcome of Cesar.

Any chance that anyone could help me? I am unable to speak French, and have absolutely no idea how to go about searching in France for a birth or christening or anything like that. Would I need to employ someone, or is there a site where I could ask someone to do a lookup for me?

Many thanks for reading this.
Jax

Ganster in Paris

Can anyone help me find information about my great-grandparents? They were Marie Poncin (or Poncon?) and Edouard Etienne Ganster born in the 1830s. They are both recorded as from "Germany" on the 1881 UK census but were French-speaking Catholics. Marie (and Edouard?) may have come from Luxembourg (Grand Duchy or Belgian province). Their first 2 children, Matilda (Mathilde) and Eugene, were born in Paris about 1861 and 1863. Then they moved to England.
Can anyone advise on finding information about their children's births in Paris (I don't know which arrondissement), or about Marie and Edouard's births and marriage?
Thanks very much.
Laurence.
Nicholas Gautier emigrated from Paris to England or America in the 1790s during the Revolution and settled in Kentucky. He gave his sons the names John, David, Francis Roulach, and Etieune (Etienne?). A man named Richard Gautier may also have been related to him. We know the reason he left was because he offended someone in Paris and had to flee for his life but have no other information about him from France. Any help in locating him would be greatly appreciated.
Judy Gautier

It has long been claimed in my family that my GG grandfather, known as Captain John Archer, came to America around 1850 after fighting a duel that may have resulted in the death of a cousin. His place of origin was alleged to have been Paris, France. He went by the name of John in later years, but upon first arrival in Vermont took the name Jonathan. It is not known whether his last name was originally Archer, L'Archer, Archier, or something similar. He never admitted to American authorities he was born in France, and no other details were passed down. I have never known where to begin trying to find his ancestral roots in France. I'm looking for suggestions.

Searching for adoptive parents of Alicia Josephina Maria Perry (b 21 Aug 2005 in Tampa, Florida, USA)

Hello all,

This may sound real strange. But I just very recently found out that I am the uncle of an Alicia Josephina Maria Perry who was born to my sister Rianna Pilar Perry (b 8 Feb, 1968 in Quezon City, Republic of the Philippines) and Kevin Thomas Rizzi (b 9-2-1965). Due to circumstances at the time, both Kevin and Rianna decided that it would be in the best interest for the baby to be adopted.

Thanks to the help of Rianna, I know that the adoptive parents were Franck and Josephina of Paris who had previously adopted another child named Max (b Aug 2002 in Florida, USA) The adoption of Alicia Josephina Marie took place around 23 Aug 2005 and all 4 parents did get a chance to meet in September of 2005.

From what I have been able to find out so far is that Franck owns his own limousine service and Josephina works part time as a ground stewardess for a big European Airline company.

Joseephina is of Dutch descent from Holland but moved to France around 1991. Has a Masters in child education (4 year study)

Frank is French, studied in New York for a year, did his military service in Germany, and ran marathons in South America. He has a Masters in Computer Science.

I've included pics of all parties named. Some are from the Sep 2005 meeting and the most recent pictures of Alicia, Franck, Josephina, and Max that I had available to me.

I really would love to be able add the adoptive family to the family tree (including as full a family tree as I can give of the adoptive family) and be able to give this family tree project to Alicia someday as a gift so she will be able to have a history of not just her adoptive family , but also of her natural family. Being an adoptee, myself I have been unable to find any thing about my biological family, but I would like think that when Alicia is old enough to understand she would like to know her biological roots

I would greatly appreciate any and all help in this matter. Please feel free to reply to me here directly on the boards or via email at eq1967@gmail.com

Thank you,

Claude Penrod Perry II

Malvina Sagnier nee Couchy

Malvina Couchy was born in Boulogne in 1842. She was married in Surryon 10 April 1870 to Louis Sagnier. He was a widower when he married Malvina. His father was Pierre Sagnier. They have two sons born in England. Ernest Pierre Sagnier, born on 7 February 1871 in Long Acre, London, and Leon Ferdnand Sagnier born on 30 December 1871 in Fulham, Middlesex. Malvina dies in Paris at le Maison Dubois on 24 September 1921 and is buried in Cimetiere de Saint-Ouen. She lived in 2 Rue Stephenson in Paris. On Malvina's death card, the names of Couchy, Sagnier, Lynch, Balazard, Hager, Martin and Guibet appear.

Ernest Sagnier appears on the 1891 census for London with his wife Alice. There are no children. I cannot find any further information on Ernest or Leon in England. Their mother returns to France and I have a letter sent to a relative in England talking about the First World War.

Malvina's parents were Seraphin Ferdinand Louis (Del)Couchy (born in Gravelines) and Isabelle Genevieve Montador (born in Boulogne).

Does anyone have any information regarding Malvina, her husband, sons and any other family? Malvina's brother Auguste Couchy, also born in Boulogne, was my Great Grandfather.

I would love to know more about Malvina and her family. I know Malvina returned to live in Paris. Did Ernest and Leon.

Regards Yvonne Larkins
En famille: Couchy, Seguin, Montador, Germe, Delpierre

Can anyone direct me to reliable cemetery records in and around Malakoff? I am seeking information on Jules F.M. Lesage who reportedly died 17 December 1888 and was buried in a cemetery "close to the old walls." Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

DE SARIGNY, GOLDMANN, South Africa

I am continuing my quest for information about Louis
GOLDMANN who retired to Frankfurt in Germany after
having been involved in the running of the
Burghersdorp branch of the MOSENTHAL business, as well
as being a business associate of my relative Henry
BERGMANN(1831-66) in Aliwal North.

Louis came to South Africa from somewhere in Germany.
I would like to know exactly where he came from!

I have had another look at Richard GOLDMANN's
autobiographical work, "A South African remembers",
and have gleaned the following information (Richard
was born 1861 in Burghersdorp):

1. His father, whose name is not given in the book,
left "eastern Germany" in 1848 and,at the suggestion
of relatives and their connections, went out to South
Africa to engage in mercantile business in
Burghersdorp.

2. His family left Burghersdorp in 1876, and went to
settle in Breslau in for a few years before moving to
Freiburg in the Black Forest.

3. Richard had a sister Alice and brothers Edwin,
Charles Sydney and Alfred. Edwin was a famous doctor
in Freiburg, and helped to discover the blood/brain
barrier.

4. Richard married the widow of the Count de SARIGNY
in about 1907. He had met the Count and his wife many
years earlier, in 1887, in Middelburg in the Cape (he
had relatives who lived in Middelburg - probably the
FRIEDLANDER family from Beuthen/Breslau.)

I am still puzzled as to the name of Richard's father.
(I suspect that Richard was not a child of Louis as it
is known that Louis had a daughter Johanna who is not
mentioned in Richard's book.)

I would be very pleased to hear from anyone who has
any information about the various GOLDMANN s of
Burghersdorp. Any information about the De Sarigny
family would also help satisfy my curiosity!

Adam Yamey, London, UK<adamandlopa@yahoo.co.uk>

I am looking for my sister, Myriam Royer, born June 13,1958, in Lardy France to her mother, Claude France Royer. Her grandparents were August and France Dumay, and they used to live at 16 rue de la Honville, Lardy, Seine et Oise, France. If anyone knows her, please have her email me at marieange96067@hotmail.com. I am eager to speak to her and tell her how much I love and miss her. We left France around 1965 or 1966, and Myriam was left behind. The last letter I received from her was in 1986 or 1987.

Surnames: DORVILLE, NEYROUD AND CHAMBOUR

Bonjour,

I wish to locate the families in France of my great-grandparents, who came to the US possibly in the early 1870's. Any assistance will be appreciated.

My great-grandfather CHARLES ERNEST DORVILLE was born in France in 1851. He died 08 Nov 1878 in New Orleans, Louisiana USA of yellow fever - only 27 years of age.
His death certificate states he was a "native of Paris, France."

His wife was MARIE JOSEPHINE NEYROUD, born 1855, possibly in Lyon, France. She died 1910 in Mississippi USA.

They married 09 Jan 1875 in New Orleans, Louisiana USA.

Their marriage certificate lists her surname as NEYROUD, however, the copy of their son' s baptismal lists it as CHAMBOUR. I feel this is the same person and perhaps the person transcribing the baptismal copy made a mistake or CHAMBOUR is actually a part of her name, also.

Their son, my grandfather, was JOSEPH LOUIS DORVILLE, born 24 Oct 1875 in Opelousas, Louisiana USA. There was possibly one other child, MARTIN PAUL DORVILLE, who died at age 1.

I am beginning to study French (again, after many years), and hopefully someday will be able to correspond in that language with my French cousins - if and when we make contact.

Merci,
Doris Dorville Davis

Searching for information regarding Gerald Noel Casavant, born in Montreal 1905. His mother died giving birth to the last Casavant. I'm not clear if she was giving birth to Gerald or to the next sibbling. Gerald was the youngest of 13. He had a sister Relnoud and another, Diane, that I am aware of. He seems to have had a first wife in Florida and a second wife in California. Barbara Albrecht, my mother, the second wife. During this marriage he had two children Denise and Gerald Paul born in San Francisco. Relound and her husband George lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Gerald died 1977 in Florida. Any information would be greatly informative.

la traduction suit en français (translation follows in French)

My great grandfather George Albert Refault was born in Paris in 1843. The birth record was apparently destroyed in the Paris Archives fire of 1872. Without knowing the District in which the birth took place it appears to be almost impossible to find the birth entry, and thus his parents.

The family name Refault together with the alternatative spelling is found (so far) in BMD Events (Actes) between 1597 and 1868 distributed in a number of Départements in France. Most of the Actes took place in Cher (18), Indre (36), Indre-et-Loir (37) and Loiret (45). These areas are collectively known as Centre.

I haven't, so far, been able to tie any of these apparent ancestors back to my great grandfather.

Is anyone able to assist?

Bob Refault
Hampshire, England
===

Bob Refault,
Hampshire, Angleterre
Archambault

My great-grandmother was Hermenegilde (various spellings on that) Archambault. Born 9/16/1831 in Lacadie, Montreal. Married Leon Mailloux around 1848. Her death certificate lists her parents as Laurent Archambault and Laurencine Denean Arch. We have no other information about her parents or siblings. Would be grateful for any information or hints for searching. Thanks
