Hi Susan
Great to hear from you too. I live in Western Australia but am from Manchester.
Hope this info doesn't mess your tree up but Jean Baptiste Alphonse Robert was born <1846> and not 1820. I have his marriage cert to Marie Josephine Habillon in 1871.
Details:
16th May 1871 @ St Augustine Church, Granby Row, Manchester.
Jean Baptiste Alphonse Robert age 25yrs/Bachelor/Warehouse Manager/12 Brewer Street/ Father: Jean Nicolas Robert, Superintendent Police.
Marie Josephine Habillon age 21yrs/Spinster/ 11 Booth Street/ Father: Joseph Habillon, Basket Importer.
Witnesses are: Hernand? Collignon & Alice Jeaudin?
Their son Louis was a witness @ one of my G Grandfathers (Justin Robert) marriages. I have an idea that Justin and Jean Baptiste Alphonse were brothers...but no proof. Justin Robert was not a nice person going off what I know of him. I have lots of records for him if you're interested. Too many to put on here. My email address is patfowles1@bigpond.com if you email me I can send you the details of Justin and the certs I have.
Can you give me the details of the letter you have from Uncle Pierre. look forward to hearing from you....Pat

Hi
Great to hear from you.
I do indeed have information about the Roberts as jean Baptiste Robert, born about 1820 married the daughter of my great great grandfather's sister, thus making him the cousin in law of my great grandad. their son Louis also got involved when my great great great grandmother Anne Colligon (née Pierson) died and left some money in her will to her grandchildren, who included Louis and my great grandfather Alfred. I actually have a letter written by Alfred's uncle Pierre in relation to this.
I'm afraid I don't have a Justin Robert in my tree but I would love to hear more about him as he must be related somehow.
AS for why the Roberts, Collignons, Habillons, Burluraux, Chargois, Jacqemots, Martinots, Gillets,L'Holliers came to England has more to do with the fact that they were all involved in the basket trade. Rupt en Woevre and Mouilly in the Meuse area of North Easter France, where most of them came from were major centres of basket making in the 18th and 19th centuries and I have identified over 120 Frenchmen who travveled to the UK between c. 1830 and 1900 to sell/import/manufacture basket ware goods. A lot of them settled here either with French wives from the same area or with English wives.
The activities of my "travelling Frogs" is the main focus of my research now and I am intrigued there is another Robert in Manchester that I haven't yet discovered.
AS for tracing the Roberts in France, I haven't so far had that much success. The furthest back I have got is to Pierre Robert born in around 1765. he is the father of jean Baptiste who is in turn the father of Jean Baptiste (born c. 1820 who marries Marie Josephine Habillon (born 1849 to Barbe Reine Collignon and Joseph Habillon). he looks to be around 30 years older than her and I can find no record of him after the marriage in 1871.
I have managed to trace some of their offspring but not that many.
If you could share your findings with me I would be very grateful. I am also a mine of information on all the other families that came over as basket salesman.
Some of them were very successful indeed but not my family.
Are you UK vbased?
I live in Durham but am originally from North West England.

Regards
Susan Tyson (née Collison [originally Collignon])

Re this post. My G Grandfather was Justin Robert born <1855> in France. He was a basketmaker/salesman. The first record I have for him is 1875 marriage cert. He is connected somehow to other Robert people from France (in Manchester at the same time ). I have records for Collignon, Habillon which connect to Justin Robert so I think they must all be from the same area of France. Do you have any records for Robert people in your research?
PS From what I can gather, around the time these people left Lorraine/France the Germans had reclaimed it and I think that's probably why they left.

Was this Marie's first marriage; b.1917, d.2004? Who were her parents, also? (I finally found the above information listed as the sibling of Henri's children born in the 1940's.)

Hi Susan,

You were talking about a Richard Chargois who lived in Rupt and went to the UK. I'm also making a family tree, and especially when it's about Richard Chargois I have a missing link. I have Richard Chargois (sr) who married Elizabeth Wilkinson. I think he was born in 1785, but I'm not sure. In London he got 3 sons, Richard, Sebastien (both from 1804) and Hubert. Do you know if the above story is right? If so I have my missing link to the USA, because I know those 3 sons and Elizabeth went in the 1820 to the states. I asume Richard Chargois sr died in London.

Hope you can help me.

Best regards,

Please reply to sander.chargois@telenet.be.
Detenon, de Tenon family members in France

Hi, I am trying to find more information about my French ancestors. My great, great grandfather, Theophile Semblat de Tenon was born on the 2nd of February, 1839 in Bordeaux, Gironde, Aquitaine, France. His parents were Guillaume (William) de Tenon, a Doctor of Medicine and Marie Semblat. On Theophile's marriage certificate his Father's name is written as Guyon, however this is more than likely a phonetic spelling of Guillaume. I would like to find out more information about this line in my family. Kind regards, L.D

I am looking for the relatives of Nicklaus Flammang, probably born in the Lorraine in 1850, and who emigrated to chicago in about 1869. He then married Marie Engel, probably born in the Lorraine in about 1850 and who emigrated separately in 1870. I am also looking for probable relatives Michael Engel who was probably born in the area, and who married Franziska Lux ( may have been born there also, I do not know), in 1858 in downstate Illinois. There are enclaves of Flammangs in Iowa and Wisconsin, but so far I can not find a link to any of them. Help, please-- I am writing from Belgium right now, but will be returning to the states tomorrow. Robin Flammang/morley

Re: Chargois family of Lorraine

Hi
I don't know whether you have and any replies to this post but I believe I can help with information on the CHARGOIS. My great great granfather, a Jean Nicolas Collignon was from the village of Rupt en Woevre in Meuse, Lorraine, France.
He came to the UK around 1850 as. Basket salesman and subsequently settled in LIVERPOOL AND THEN Manchester. I am researching the movements of other Frenchmen from Rupt and neighbouring villages (Mouilly, Ranzieres, Ambly,, Genicourt etc) as I discovered many other basket salesman who were travelling between France and the UK in the 19th century. So far I have identified over 150, one of whom was Richard Chargois, the granfather of Alphonse Chargois. Rupt and Mouilly were obviously major centres for the manufacture of baskets and other related wicker products. People from those villages went on the establish basket and household goods businesses throughout the UK, some of whom went on to make a great deal of money. One branch of the Collignon's emigrated to New Jesrsey and established a very successful chair business. I am constantly amazed at how such a tiny village in France, where there are currently just 300 inhabitants, could have exprted such quantities of baskets, and of people. My research continues but you are more than welcome to look at my tree and trace the Chargois I have so far identified.
Best wishes
Susan Tyson (nee Collison aka Collignon)

Yes. the Vincents seem to have been a prolific family in the M-et-M region - at times Vincents married other Vincents. I have found more information through three generations of "Jean" Vincents (1770, 1736, 1701) on through Nicolas (1677) to Charles (1644) in Blenod Les, Pont A Mousson, M-et-M. Stuck again at that point, but I haven't had much time lately to devote to research.

Ironically my brother is named Charles, and I unknowingly named my youngest son Nicholas. Lots of name repetition in my family's tree.

If I include my own grandsons in the tree, that will cover 12 generations and approximately 400 years as it stands now. Researching this from thousands of miles away and in a different language would have been impossible if it were not for the help of some generous individuals on this very forum.

Where are you located, and are you a Vincent?

As I am sure you know by now, Vincent is a fairly common name, and it is found all over the Lorraine area. My Jean Vincent(several generations earlier than yours) comes from the area around Vaudigney, parish of Vaudeville, M-et-M. Later generations of the family relocated to Crepey, Germiny, and then Toul by 1800.

Hello Angela,

Thank you again for your message. I have come across a second document with the correct spelling and came back to your post and wanted to ask fo your help.

I did email the person you suggested "mairie.arneguy@wanadoo.fr" but I never received a response from her. Are you in touch with her? Perhaps you can ask her to look into "Emilio Barreneche Etchéverri" born 1918-1922

I included a photograph of his Mexican Immigration document which may help me find out more about my search?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,
But just in case not.

Ancestry. com has a French division.
Also geneanet is site pertaining to France. Part is in French but much is in English. Also part of this site is free (search for names etc) and part is for pay.
Anyway, hope this was helpful

Nicholas and Emma (Vogel) Kirsch were my great, great, grandparents from Alsace, Lorraine, France. They came to America 1853. Their children were John,Philip, Theobold, and Anna M. They settled in Gibsonburg, OH buying a farm. In 1865 they sold the Farm to son, John and moved to Lacrosse, WI. I have all the information on John as my grandfather was one of his sons. Philip also came to Gibsonburgand was married to Anna Ripper. I have no record of the other ywo children. Nicholas was born 11/06/1806

Re: Planning a trip to the cemetery in St. Avold

Tips or advice about what, specifically? Regarding accommodations or restaurants, your travel agent would obviously be the best place to start. OTOH, if you can write in French or know someone who does, a letter to the mayor's office (http://www.mairie-saint-avold.fr/) might open some different doors. (Our family's trip was a special case, since I live in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Fayetteville and St. Avold are sister cities -- FYI, FWIW, the official address of the cemetery is the Rue de Fayetteville -- mMy wife is a librarian and we were given the royal treatment by the staff at the library there.)

The American Battle Monuments Commission website (www.abmc.gov) has excellent advice about visiting individual cemeteries. (The individual page for the Lorraine cemetery is http://www.abmc.gov/cemeteries/cemeteries/lo.php.)

When you get to the cemetery, go to the Visitors' Center and identify the soldier whose grave you want to visit. For relatives, they will send a staff member out with you to help find the grave, but the staff member will also be carrying a bucket of special fine-grained sand taken from the Normandy beaches. They use the sand to highlight the inscription on the grave marker so you can get high-quality photos.

I did not have any relatives buried there, but since Fayetteville is next door to Fort Bragg, and Fort Bragg is the home of the 82nd Airborne Division, I asked for the names of any 82nd soldiers who were buried there so I could get photos of their markers. There were about half a dozen -- since the cemetery is the largest American cemetery in Europe, I didn't want to take up their time with asking them to escort me to each of them, and I also did not feel I needed to have the names highlighted. But the superintendent was very helpful in giving me a map and a printout with the names and the plot locations.

Hello - I'm planning a trip for summer 2013 to visit my grandfather's grave in the cemetery at St. Avold. I will be bringing my mom, who is 70. He was killed when she was only a toddler, and nobody has ever visited his grave.
Any tips or advice?
I hope to make this a truly special event for my mom, to honor the grandfather I never got to meet.
Thank you!
V.egan1981@gmail.com

Thank you Joe and a Happy New Year to you too!

The price is 39€ in fact but either way you won't find anything about families in this book, it just lists all towns/villages (= communes) of the departement of Meurthe-et-Moselle, with at least a picture (often old postcard) and some facts/stats about its history (different names through the ages, demonyms, famous inhabitants/monuments/buildings, places of interest, etc.)

I wouldn't say it isn't interesting but there's probably nothing in there you won't find on the web so no, it wouldn't make top of my buying list! But then,it all depends on what you were hoping for?

Then you click on "Accéder à la version graphique", then the "Sélection de la commune", you type the name of Ranrupt (for example) with the keyboard and then click the name of the town appears .
Hello,
I found your ancestors in the departmental archives of the Bas-Rhin that are on the Internet and you can also check (etat-civil.bas-rhin.fr). There are vital records for your family.
KRIEGUER Jean David, born September 7, 1833 at Bellefosse (Bas-Rhin), is the son of Jean David KRIEGUER (born May 2, 1803 at Bellefosse and died March 29, 1855 at Ranrupt - son of Dimanche KRIEGUER and Renee GRUNY) and Elisabeth KRIEGUER (born December 14, 1806 at La Vreye (Bourg Bruche) and died April 4, 1872 at Bellefosse - daughter of Jean KRIEGUER and Rachel), married June 25, 1828 at Bellefosse (Bas-Rhin).
PACHER Magdeleine, born July 30, 1833 in Bourg Bruche (Bas-Rhin) and died June 5, 1877 at Ranrupt, is the daughter of André PACHER (born circa 1806) and Magdeleine PACHER (born 1805 in Bourg Bruche and died 2 December 1845 in Bourg Bruche).
KRIEGUER Jean David (b. 1833) was remarried April 23, 1878 at Ranrupt with Marie Claire GRANDADAM (born 28 January 1846 in La Petite Fosse (Vosges) - daughter of Jean Joseph GRANDADAM and Marie Catherine SUBLON).
Cordially.
Hello,

I found it quite interesting to find that there were Muttats/Moutardes/Moutards/Muttars in Alsace. I have been researching my line with that surname in the Banat area of what was Austria-Hungary before WWII. My ancestor, Antoine M. born circa 1724 in Saint-Georges, Lorraine, settled in the Banat in or around 1755. He served as the local judge (loose translation) there from 1757-1760. According to research, his parents were Antoine Moutard and Marguerite Tetard.

Antoine had a brother named Louis/Ludwig born circa 1725, and possibly another brother named Francois/Franz born circa 1730.

I was wondering if you have found any siblings or other relatives for you Balthasar Moutarde. I am curious to see if there is a link between the Lorraine Moutardes and the Alsace Moutardes.

Thanks,
Cathy

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In my research efforts regarding one EDWARD FINEL I wish to communicate with anyone researching the surname of FINEL that might have someone, or know of someone, who would have been in the Massachusetts U.S.A. area in the time period of 1700 to 1748. This man EDWARD FINEL 1, we believe had ancestry from France and was probably Christen Baptized named EDWARD, or his father was at this time. Because this man birthed a son named EDWARD FINEL; born 27 October 1748 in Massachusetts and because of the naming patterns in the U.S.A. at that time period he could have been named for his father, or his grandfather.

It is not known at this time in my researching if the first FINEL immigrated to the U.S.A., or if he might have been part of a military unit stationed in or near Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. I have been unable to determine any information relative to this man; birth, country of origin, death, or whatever.

The lady we believe to be the mother of his child could have also been a friend or relative of the real mother. Although, there are indicator’s that this lady was his mother in some of my findings.

Thank you

You're welcome. I'm not sure all these infos (especially the witnesses names & relations) will be in the Morville book. But its title is "Reconstitution des familles" so it should be more than simple lists of births, marriages, deaths. Perhaps the data are gathered by families. But Morville was never a big village (130 inhabitants nowadays, about 400 in the 1800's) so maybe they could afford to be more exhaustive.

I don't think you'll find any Manoncourt data in it though, or perhaps just an indication, like "married in Manoncourt".

===

On the other hand, the Meurthe-et-Moselle Genealogy Circle (to which belong the Blenod PAM branch) does sell such lists (=tables) of births, marriages and deaths but they're quite pricey: http://www.cg540.net/lestables.htm

MORVILLE SUR SEILLE:
- M = Marriages (392 entries) - from 1692 to 1898 - price: 8,50 euros
- N = Births (1966 entries) - from 1692 to 1902 - price: 29,00 euros
- D = Deaths (1318 entries) - from 1693 to 1902 - price: 23,00 euros

MANONCOURT SUR SEILLE
- M = Marriages (310 entries) - from 1695 to 1872 - price: 6,00 euros
- N = Births (812 entries) - from 1765 to 1872 - price: 18,00 euros
- D = Deaths (673 entries) - from 1765 to 1872 - price: 15,00 euros

You can see here what an entry from a marriage table looks like: http://www.cg540.net/explictable.htm

There are 2 parts:
- marriages by husband's name: 3 columns:
1) husband's name with his age & parents name, eventually previous spouse
2) same for wife
3) marriage date and spouses origin (town)

- marriages ordered by wife's name:
1) wife's name
2) husband's name
3) marriage date

===

Browsing directly the records is still the best & cheaper option but I understand the language and handwriting can be strong obstacles. At least in the beginning because after a while you'd adapt (almost all records are worded the same so you just have to look for the names and dates).

Finally, I've also found http://www.notrefamille.com/etat-civil/ has indexed many records including this area (2,6 millions for Meurthe-et-Moselle - 3,4 millions for Moselle) so you can at least use their search form to find places of marriages and children (full access required membership of course). Use * as joker in the names.

I've sent an email to the Blenod PAM circle so let's wait & see. If no response comes, I'll try the phone. They say to pay by check but I'm sure another way is possible (maybe bank transfer, western union or even paypal...)

Regards,
Amandine

When I purchased a town genealogy book from a Moselle area genealogy circle about five years ago, they had me send the money by Western Union. Then you email them the code numbers so they can access it on the other end. I got mine at Fred Meyer but I bet you could do it at Wal-Mart.
Elsie

Thank you so much, Amandine, for this info. I had narrowed down the possibility of the Jean Vincent/ Barbe Chandelier couple and a Claude Vincent/Anne Chevereaux couple as the most likely parents due to the ages involved. I noted the same given names (Jean) which increased the possibility of it being that couple. I guessed that Francois's parents would not be teenagers or nearing 50 years old. Perhaps that's a mistake to make such an assumption, but one of my two guesses was correct. I could just not find a positive link to Jean. My searches all centered on Morville. That was my main mistake. I now know about Manoncourt.

I now have much more info on which to to base further searches. Was all this info in the book I am seeking? Would Manoncourt info also be in that book? If so, I definitely would like for you to contact the Geneology Circle for me. My problem with acquiring the book centers on how to pay for it. International money orders are almost unheard of here in Memphis, Tennessee. The last time I sent one to France I had to purchase it from the Saint Louis Post Office!

Hi Joe,

I can try contacting the Genealogy Circle on your behalf if you want, just let me know.

Concerning your VINCENT branch, I searched for the VINCENT/PAUGAIN marriage in 1835 in Morville to check if the certificate gave more details. Which it did:

- date: February 24, 1835 - 10 a.m.
- place: Morville-sur-Seille (then in the departement of Meurthe, now Meurthe-et-Moselle)

- groom: François VINCENT, aged 37, mason, residing with his father at Manoncourt-sur-Seille where he was born. Of age son of Jean VINCENT aged 66 also mason, residing in said Manoncourt, here and agreeing, and of late Elisabeth GEORGES who died in Manoncourt.

- bride: Marie PAUGAIN, aged 27, no occupation, residing in Morville where she was born (birth recorded on November 30, 1807). Of age daughter of late Nicolas PAUGAIN who died in Morville (death recorded on November 29, 1830) and of Marie POURIAUX? aged 65, no occupation, living in Morville, here and agreeing.

- witnesses:
1) Jean LUCAS, aged 64, property owner, living in Morville, friend of the husband
2) Claude François MOREL, aged 36, property owner, liv. in Landremont, friend of the husband
3) Joseph PAUGAIN, aged 42, property owner, liv. in Jaulny, brother of the wife
4) ...? François PAUGAIN, aged 30, property owner, liv. in Morville-sur-Seille, also brother of the wife

===

Note that Manoncourt-sur-Seille doesn't exist anymore as town entity because it merged (as well as Lixières, Morey & Serrières) in 1971 to Belleau: http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belleau_%28Meurthe-et-Moselle%2...

So I searched Manoncourt archives and found Jean VINCENT & Elisabeth GEORGES marriage there in 1796. François birth is recorded on November 22, 1797 (= 2 Frimaire year 6) but the page is missing on-line (should be page 173, probably missed during digitalization). But I was able to find 2 of his siblings on the same period:
- Margueritte VINCENT, b. May 12, 1800 (= 22 Floréal year 8)
- Toussaint Etienne VINCENT, b. August 7, 1802 (= 19 Thermidor year 10)

I've also found his death in Morville on June 11, 1854 at 11:00 a.m. It is noted he was 56 years old, born in Manoncourt, and his parents, Jean VINCENT and Elisabeth GEORGES, are deceased. His wife is Marie PAUGAIN, aged 47.

Furthermore, I've also found his mother, Elisabeth GEORGES, death certificate in Manoncourt. She died after giving birth to twin boys, François and Jean, who also died aged a few days old. The informants were the father, Jean VINCENT aged 41, and Alexis TOUSSAINT aged 33, both masons in Manoncourt:

- François VINCENT: d. December 5, 1814 at 03:00 a.m., aged 3 days.
- Elisabeth GEORGES: d. December 7, 1814 at 07:00 p.m., aged 40, born in Manoncourt, daughter of both deceased Jean GEORGES and Anne Gabrielle MARCHAL, wife of said Jean VINCENT.
- Jean VINCENT: d. December 8, 1814 at 11:00 a.m., aged 6 days.

It's likely there are other children from this couple, but I haven't searched further.

Main informations in Jean VINCENT & Elisabeth GEORGES marriage certificate:

- date: October 4, 1796 (= 13 Vendémiaire year 5)
- place: Manoncourt-sur-Seille (then in the departement of Meurthe, now Meurthe-et-Moselle)

- groom: Jeant VINCENT, mason, aged 26, living in Morville, son of Jeant VINCENT mason (when alive?) and of Barbe CHANDELIER, his parents living in Morville.

- bride: Elisabeth GEORGE, aged 22, daughter of Jeant GEORGE former farmer and of (late?) Anne MARCHAL, her parents living in Manoncourt (then in the departement of Meurthe).

- witnesses:
1) Louis Gabriel CONTAL, aged 40, employee of the town of Morville
2) Joseph PERRIOT, aged 36, weaver, living in Morville; both friends and relatives of the groom
3) Jeant GEORGE, father of the bride
4) Claude Jeant (or Paul?) GEORGE, farmer in Clémery, aged 36, brother of the bride

===

As you noted yourself, the name 'Jean VINCENT' is quite common, but 'Barbe CHANDELIER' is not. So I looked on Geneanet and was able to link up with people's data that indicated one Jean VINCENT, son of Jean VINCENT & Marguerite TOUSSAINT, married one Barbe CHANDELIER, daughter of Jean CHANDELIER & Anne MEAUX, in Cheminot (neighbour town of Morville, but in the departement of Moselle) on January 6, 1766:
- marriage & ancestries of the spouses: http://gw3.geneanet.org/parcsm?lang=en;iz=1;p=jean;n=vincent...
- Barbe birth date: http://gw3.geneanet.org/pdeveaux?lang=en;p=barbe;n=chandelie...

It seems to click well as this VINCENT family was from Morville, so I looked for the marriage record on the Moselle Archives website:

- date: January 7, 1766
- place: Cheminot (departement of Moselle)
- groom: Jean VINCENT, of age boy, son of deceased Jean VINCENT & of deceased Margueritte TOUSSAINT
- bride: Barbe CHANDELLIER, daughter of deceased Jean CHANDELLIER & of deceased Anne MEAU;
both from this parish
- witnesses: Christophe CHANDELLIER, François MEAU, Jean DIDELON

===

Here are their children I've found on Morville-sur-Seille registers:

- Agate VINCENT:
. born & christened on June 27, 1767
Godfather: Jean CHANDELIER, brother of the mother.
Godmother: Agathe QUENELLE, daughter of François QUENELLE
. died on July 26, 1767

- Jean VINCENT:
. born & christened on August 28, 1768
Godfather: Jean DIDELON
Godmother: Magdeleine CHANDELIER, girl from Cheminot
. died on September 8, 1768

- Jean VINCENT:
. born & christened on February 26, 1770
Godfather: Jean VINCENT, admodiateur of Merville (see: http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amodiateur)
Godmother: Christine RICHIT, wife of Jean PERIEN?

Then I've found one Jean VINCENT, about 40 years old, died on December 21, 1771. He was buried the next day and were present Jean VINCENT (who did a mark in lieu of signature) and Jean DIDELON.

No more VINCENT/CHANDELIER birth after that so I think it was Barbe's husband. Which seems to be confirmed by the fact a year later, I've found this marriage:

- date: January 12, 1773
- place: Merville-sur-Seille (54)
- groom: François LUCAS, son of Charles LUCAS & deceased Anne LHUILLIER
- bride: Barbe DELIER, widow of Jean VINCENT;
both from this parish
- witnesses:
1) Charles LUCAS, father of the groom
2) Claude VINCENT, cousin
3) Jean DELIER, brother of the bride
4) Jean DIDELON, tutor of the bride's child

Probably the same Jean DIDELON who was Jean's brother-in-law (he married his sister Margueritte VINCENT), His 1st son's godfatehr, and present at both his marriage and burial. All of this makes me think Barbe DELIER = Barbe CHANDELIER.

Which again seems corroborated by this death certificate:

Barbe CHANDELIER
- recorded on: May 16, 1813 at 09:00 am
- place: Morville-sur-Seille (54)
- died on May 16, 1813 at 07:00 am, aged 80, wife of François LUCAS mason living in Morville
- informants:
. Jean LUCAS, property owner aged 42, her brother-in-law
. Joseph MERCIER, farmer, aged 36, her friend & neighbour

I don't know why the priest change their name from CHANDELIER to DELIER on this marriage certificate, but aside from that, the facts match well together.

===

To save you time, I saved & gathered copies of the certificates I've found on the Meurthe-et-Moselle & Moselle archives websites in a zip file there:

>>>>>> http://www.mediafire.com/?6t8jsvqdciy66y7 <<<<<<

sources:
- Meurthe-et-Moselle archives website: http://www.archives.cg54.fr/archives/DefautBureau.aspx?Ongle...
- Moselle archives website: http://www.archivesnumerisees57.com/mdr/index.html

Remember that:
. Tables Décennales (TD) = 10-years indexes
. BMS = Baptêmes/Mariages/Sépultures = Baptisms/Marriages/Burials (parish registers)
. NMD = Naissances/Mariages/Décès = Births/Marriages/Deaths (civil registry)
. Both parish and civil registers are kept in double sets (one for the town, one for the Court archives) that after 100 years should be sent to the departement archives but sometimes the town keeps its own set. When both are available, the communal one can be more complete (with people's signatures).
. sometimes all types of records are mixed, sometimes they're separated (births then marriages then deaths, for example)

===

There, I think that should help you going on? ;P

Best regards,
Amandine

Re: Jean Vincent Family Lorraine region

I have found lots of info at the Geneanet and the NewFamilySearch web sites regarding my ancestors on the Paugain branch of my family tree, but my Vincent branch remains broken at Jean Vincent in the late 18th century. I sent an email request in August to the Geneology Circle Blenod PAM seeking information on how to purchase their Morville book, but I have not received a reply. So I just sent another email. Perhaps I need to send them a letter. I fear the distance and difference in monies may be a problem.

I have actually found two possibilities as parents to Jean Vincent from Morville, but no definite link. The abundance of "Jean Vincents" is indeed a hindrance.

I remain open to all suggestions.

Re: Barreneche Echeverri Basque Family operating a Hacienda in Guanajuato, Mexico 1957

The geopatronyme.com site shows that only 5 Echeverri were born in Pyrénées Atlantiques(64) 1891-1915 - in Arnéguy. Unfortuntely the online records only go up to 1892 for Births and Marriages and to 1899 for Deaths.
If you are after the parents of these brothers, I suggest you email mairie.arneguy@wanadoo.fr

However, if you widen the search to include other spellings, you get other possibilities:
Echeverry Births 1891-1915: Bayonne, Pau, Nay Bourdettes, Orthez;
Etcheverri: Banca;
Etcheverry: This is the most common spelling and births occurred in 107 places in Pyrenees Atlantiques.

Angela
