I am looking for details of the marriage of Francis Tenner Margan on 27 July 1863 in New Caledonia. At this stage I don't know who he married or what happened to his wife as he was later married to an Irish girl names Elizabeth Moore and they have several children in NSW Australia. ONe of their children, Catherine is believed to have been born at sea near Vanuatu. So I presume maybe she was born on their way to Australia.
She was known as Madam Becker (nee Martel). She was born in Guernsey.
She also had 2 sisters, Madam Marie and Madam de Grasset. One was married to a farmer/Butcher and the other to a Doctor. Does anyone know of where I could look for Wills or deaths etc in New Caledonia? Thanks for any help.

My husband's grandfather Adolphe Eugene LOMMEL moved from France to New Caledonia sometime in the late nineteenth century. He married Lucienne PELTIER there in 1895. Her half brothers and sisters were Joseph and Cecilia BANUELOS - I don't know if there were any others. Lucienne's mother was Angelina DIGNOLA. Any information on nay of these families would be appreciated.

My wife has an ancestor, Charles Aubertin, who was a Captain in Napoleon's army, a prisoner of war at Andover in England. He married in 1815, having two sons, then left for France alone in 1822, and could have probably remarried. We would be pleased to hear from anyone who us descended from this man, or from anyone who may know the whereabouts of any Aubertin family, who may be connected. Please contact us by email on henryd1@bigpond.com We now live in Australia. Thanks. Derek Hindle.

Looking for family in Lifou, New Caledonia and around the Vanuatu area

Around the 1830s to maybe late 1840s, our forefather, who was a missionary from Samoa traveled the Pacific with European missionaries, during one of his travels, his name was Iosia, he stopped offed at Lifou Island in New Caledonia with a brand new baby who was his daughter from his wife who died during childbirth when they were at the Ellis Islands which is now Tuvalu. When they arrived in Lifou, the island chief there asked why our forefather did not have a wife and when the reason was given, this chief gave his brother's daughter, Namaniane to our forefather for his wife. Namaniane, being a stranger in a strange land never noted down her family except where she came from. Our forefather's notes said that she was from Lifu. The most recent contact with our relatives, was when somewhere in the 1980s a contingent from Western Samoa went to Port Vila for a government meeting and they were called out from the meeting because there were some people who came to bring gifts for them on our behalf, the children of Iosia and Namaniane. The only mistake the Samoans made was they were so overjoyed at this, they forgot to ask the people who brought the gifts for an address or telephone so we can contact them. We would sure appreciate any help in finding our relatives around the New Caledonian island group of Lifou, or maybe around Port Vila. Thank you.

SAX/MILHITARO family in New Calidonia

I am looking for any information on Marie Catherine SAX and the SAX family in New Caledonia. Marie Catherine SAX was born 12 February 1855 in Farebersviller, Moselle, Lorraine, France, the daughter of Jean Joseph SAX and Barbe SPACHER. When Barbe SPACHER's brothers (Henry, Jean, and Pierre), sister (Catherine SPACHER-WENNER) and father (Joseph) immigrated to the United States, she and her husband stayed in France. I have had difficulty traceing them in France, but have discovered a marriage record for a daughter, Marie Catherine. She married Mishiro MILHITARO in Thio on 21 August 1926. Marie Catherine also had a brother, Daniel Jean SAX, born 30 December 1851 in Farebersviller. Why Marie Catherine was in New Caledonia at the age of 71 is a puzzle. Any info would be appreciated.

I am trying to locate any details on the Saxton and Sheridan families who i believed spent some time in Noumea in the around 1880-1890. I think Jane Ellen Saxton nee Sheridan may have died out of Australia as i cannot locate a death entry for her and her husband George Corser husband re married in approx 1884 in Noumea. Also, I noticed in some obituaries of my ancestors mention of race horses from New Caledonia. Their seems to be some connection but I cannot put it together.

Any help or advice appreciated.
