Hello cousin :)
The name was Chauvin until they came to Quebec and then Natchitoches, LA and finally Monroe. De Lery (meaning from France) was added about 1650, when they were in Canada or moved to the us from Canada. The family had the largest most profitable plantation in the LA territory, and between sibblings, there were 7 plantations. Winter house in Vicksburg, family cemetary in Little Rock, and in the early 1900's, New Orleans.
