When my greatgrandmother, Hannah (Pine) Evans died in 1931 she was survived by a sister Elizabeth Slaney of St. Pierre et Miquelon. A Roman Catholic marriage record reveals that in 1876, her sister, Elizabeth Pine of English Harbor West, married a Joseph Slaney of St. Lawrence, at St. Jacques, Nfld. I have been unable to find anything further on this particular couple. A 1916 "liste" at St. Pierre has a Joseph/Elisabeth Slaney, a Pierre, and a widowed Richard Slaney but I cannot be sure if this would be my couple. Can anyone enlighten me or perhaps direct me as to where I may find more information.
