Searching for a Léontine Léon of SP&M, who removed to Sydney, NS after 1911 census. Married a William Gaudet. Would anyone have dates of birth, marriage or death for her? I know they had 6 children, a son and five daughters, one of whose obituaries I found at the Cape Breton Mailing list archive. Another daughter married a Maurice -Alexandre Confiant of SP&M.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give on locating this information.

Dennis Boudreau

Could someone please help me find my g-grandmother's aunt and uncle in St. Pierre.. my grandmothers name was Elizabeth Slaney...when her father, Joseph Slaney died ( drowned, abt 1872) she was left with her aunt and uncle in St. Pierre, her mother, Mary Ann Quirk came to N.S. I don't know if this aunt and uncle was on the Slaney side or the Quirk side of the family...Elizabeth was abt three at the time and stayed until she was fourteen or fifteen, then she came to N.S. also. I also was told Elizabeth used to clean tables at a resturant that was operated by Madame LeBlanc..any help would be greatly appreaciated...thank you in advance.
Sheila Tanner,
nova Scotia, Canada

Hello all...am looking for our Ruelland family that at some point mid -late 1800's , supposedly were at St. Pierre et Michelon..My maternal grandmother was to have been from there and they emigrated to Cape Breton. I did look at one site for family names of the area but saw no Ruelland's or variants of the spelling. does anyone have any idea what kind of variants I may be looking for since the name may have been Anglicanized{?]..
Appreciate any help..
Thanks
Antoinette Batten

Letter from Serena Jones; SCAM!

Please note, that while I have every sympathy for the plight of those people who compose these types of letters, the letter posted on this board is part of a recent scam, to acquire your account anumbers and other personal identification, several of which fill my mailbox on a daily basis, and this, due to posting messages HERE on these message boards.

The reason for this is that web crawlers search the net for e-mail addresses with the "@" symbol. If only Rootsweb, Ancestry and the Genforums would DO AWAY with this system, and let us post our messages with an e-mail address such as "at" rather than "@", we could probably cut in half (if not get rid of most of) the scams and spam in our mailboxes. What do you say, Board Administrators? Let's change our way of posting. Now back to genealogy!

Hello Dennis,
We have communicated before. You sent me the siblings from Michelon of my great grandfather Alexander Briand. I got up to Nova Scotia this summer but did not make it to St. Pierre et Miquelon. Maybe someday I will. I did get to Louisbourg and visited the archives where I found some information on Joseph Briand, my 4th great grandfather. That was neat. I still have not found a birth record for Alexander circa 1845. Take care,
Leslie from Massachusetts

I tried emailing Mr. Langlois whose website appears to be the only one with genealogical info on St. Pierre et Miquelon. However, his email address indicated on the web site does not work. Would anyone know how to reach him, and if there are other sites with online information about births, deaths, marriages or census data for St. Pierre et Miquelon. I am especially interested in the early 1800's for the family Briand.
Thanks in advance.
Leslie Yauckoes

Hello, I am seeking information concerning the French ship Les Trois Soeurs which wrecked at Cape Race, NFLD on return to St-Pierre and Miquelon from St-Malo, with its Acadian passengers. I have the listing of passengers from Michel Poirier's book already, but what I wanted to find out was more about the history of the ship; when built, number of crossings, etc. Is there any database which might contain this information? or does anyone on this message board have more info regarding it? And finally, when exactly did the shipwreck occur, 1785 or 1784? Thank you, Dennis Boudreau

Every link to the St. Pierre & Miquelon records of baptisms etc. that was kindly provided by Robert Langlois is now a broken link. I presume that he is no longer providing that valuable information due to illness or some other serious reason and I wish to say how immensely his work in the past is appreciated by researchers. Now I am wondering, does anyone know where we can find that data online now?

Hi there,
When my greatgrandmother, Hannah (Pine) Evans died in 1931 she was survived by a sister Elizabeth Slaney of St. Pierre et Miquelon. A Roman Catholic marriage record reveals that in 1876, her sister, Elizabeth Pine of English Harbor West, married a Joseph Slaney of St. Lawrence, at St. Jacques, Nfld. I have been unable to find anything further on this particular couple. A 1916 "liste" at St. Pierre has a Joseph/Elisabeth Slaney, a Pierre, and a widowed Richard Slaney but I cannot be sure if this would be my couple. Can anyone enlighten me or perhaps direct me as to where I may find more information.
Thank you.

Aileen Goduto
Nova Scotia, Canada

Job connections

Is the Elizabeth Job married to Victor Auton and listed on the 1857 census for St.Pierre, Miquelon, the same Elizabeth Job, the daughter of Donald Job of Cape Breton? If so, I would be very interested in contacting any decendents of Elizabeth's. I am a decendent through her brother Peter's family and am researching the Job family.
Mermond-Babin 1784 St Pierre

Jacques Joseph Mermond and Marie Victorie Babin were married 31 October 1784 in St Pierre. I am searching for any information on the Mermond/Marmeau/Marmaud surname. On the marriage record it states that Jacques Joseph Mermond was the son of Joseph Mermond and Marguerite Mercier. Marie was the daughter of Joseph Babin and Marine LeBlanc. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.
