Surnames: Cotter, Gibson, Luis
I don't have much to go on but I am looking for the marriage of John Cotter, 3rd Foot Reg - The Buffs.
His eldest son was born in 1852 on Malta and his second in 1858 on Corfu.
Family history records that his wife was Spanish - her mother might have been English as her maiden name was probably Gibson. Luis is the name that is given to their descendants so that could be Mrs Cotter's maiden name.
I'm guessing they might have married in Gibraltar ... John Cotter was in India from about 1840 to 1850 and in Limerick in 1851 when the regiment embarked for Malta.
Is there any way to find out more?
