Reading Italian Birth Certificates

Surnames: Cantarutti Bresovez
Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me understand what I am seeing on my grandmother's birth certificate. It says

Cantarutti Mirella Nella
figlia di Antonio
e di Bresovez Maria

So I know my grandmother's surname was Cantarutti so it appears as though the surname is first, but I am trying to understand the other two names. Would this mean Antonio would also have the surname Cantarutti, and that Bresovez is the unmarried name of Maria?

I'm not used to the format of Italian records - is it normal to record the "maiden" name of the mother - or could this indicate that they were unmarried at the time of the birth of Mirella?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give
