My Grandmother was Evelyn Barbaro(1898-1984), her father was Paul Barbaro, and mother Maria (Miella) Spiteri. My grandmom Evelyn came to the United States in 1920 with her sister Mary Barbaro (1896) and brother Gustave Barbaro (1883). There were other siblings that stayed in Malta; Evelyn Barbaro's birth location was Clia Malta. My Grandfather was Anthony Azzopardi(1898-1955), his father was Richard Azzopardi, and his mother's name was Mary Gett. He came to the United States in 1920. Anthony Azzopardi's birth location was St Juilon Malta. His siblings are Carmello (Charlie), Emmanuel, Emilie (Carmelui), Attilis, Jellenn (Tabone), not sure if there were other siblings that stayed in Malta. Anthony and Evelyn's children are Blanch Catt (1924), Herbert Catt (1927), my father Harold Catt (1929-1992). The story we were told is, Grandpa Anthony and his siblings came to the United States and change their last name. There was a mistake made by someone during the immigration process. The name was intended to be Gatt, however it was spelled Catt. The other story was that Paul Barbaro was an English Baron? who married Maria (Mietta) Concetta Spiteri Curmi. I am hoping to find someone that might have the information to add on to the stories, and the history of the Azzopardi and the Barbaro. I would love to hear from you.
