The name is more likely to be Salvatore (Italian) than Salvador (Spanish). And in any case, my dad was Francesco Salvatore and his brother Salvatore Francesco, (Francesco being the other grandfather), so I dare say my grandmother was quite attached to her dad! :-)

I'm reasonably confident he was baptised after 1865. They were married in 1901 and family folklore states he died in the Spanish flu epidemic of 1918-20 in his 40s or early 50s, so that would put his year of birth around 1870-78 I think.

I'm very interested to see what you dig up. I cannot for the life of me decipher those documents. I might try again on a Windows computer.
